Vielen Dank. so this is almost like the last official night of teaching because tomorrow will be so short so it's our last Maha Siddhi story we have gone all the way up from the 950s to the early 800s and now we're at Aryanagardana This is the last Maha Siddhi. He's not in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, but he's in both the Indian and the Buddhist Maha Siddhi lineages. And he's so important in our tradition that we thought to end with him. Aryanagajna started off as a precocious young student. He had this amazing intellect and a very sharp power of being able to memorize anything that he ever read. And he was studying the traditional Brahman scriptures of that period. And he mastered all of them very quickly at a young age. But he had absolutely no sense of spirituality. he was just doing it for show he was doing it to show off because he could because he had this great power of intellect and so after he mastered it he got bored he was like oh I know all there is to know about this Brahmin stuff and he rejected his spiritual life which wasn't really a spiritual life it was like his show of spiritual life and he took to a life of worldly pleasure And his favorite activities as a youth were to go with his three friends, disguise themselves, sneak into the palace of the king, and then find the harem, where they proceeded to seduce and lure the vulnerable maidens within that belonged to the king. And it ended in a very bad tragedy. The king found out about this. And Aryanagardana had this friend who taught him how to become invisible. So Aryanagardana didn't get caught by the king, but the rest of his friends did. And he stood right next to the king, being totally invisible, and he watched the king kill his friends. And this gave him an incredible sense of guilt, as you can imagine. And it gave him the renunciation that he needed to actually propel himself into a spiritual life. You know, they say that, you know, this cycle of existence will eventually show its true colors. And it's a great blessing if it happens to us early in our lives, early enough to do something about it. And I feel like everyone here has had some kind of pain or tragedy happen in their life that they couldn't stop, and that they understand why Arya Nagarjuna took to a spiritual life after this event. There's always a point in our lives, there's always that crucial point in our lives when we realize this life is pain, it's terrible, it's unbearable, and we have to get out, you know, we have to do something about it. So he did. He went to Nalanda Monastery, and he got ordained as a Buddhist monk, and he studied there. And because he was so damn smart, he mastered everything there too. And he became like the head of, you know, one of the greatest scholars of Nalanda Monastery that they've ever seen. And he was a great debater. He could out-debate anybody. You know, he could out-logic anybody because he had such a sharp, fast mind, you know. But he realized he wasn't internalizing the teachings. So he started slowly cutting down on his studies and his debate activities and all the activities of the monastery and going into deeper and deeper meditation. He eventually, he was going into meditation on a deity named Tara, who is, it means the liberator, you know. And he came to a point where he saw her face directly. And she told him he had to be more serious in his practice. He had to go and leave the monastery and go into a deep retreat. So he did. He went to Rajgirha, and he went into a cave, and he started doing mantras. And he had this incredible ability to sense worldly deities, like goddesses of the elemental forces of nature. so he was perpetuating them to try and um to try and gain control of these elemental forces which you can do if you're at a certain level of meditation and he went into retreat with this uh pledge in mind you know that that's what he was going to do and they're called yakshis uh these goddesses of the elemental forces. So the first day he was in there, this great earthquake happened. You know, one of the Yakshis was really, there was like seven of them. And then the second day, a huge flood occurred, right where he was meditating. And he still didn't get up. He just like kept doing his mantra. He stayed in his cave. And then great huge gusts of wind came. The, you know, fire came. Then there was a shower of weapons from the sky. He still didn't give up, you know. And the elemental forces, deities, were throwing at him everything that they could, but they couldn't break his pledge to stay and retreat. And because of that, he was undissuaded by his commitment, and so they came and bowed at his feet. And they said, we'll offer you anything that you need for your retreat. And he's like, well, listen, all I need is four scoops of rice and five scoops of vegetables every day for my food. And they said, okay. And they brought it to him for 12 years. These elemental force deities came and, you know, offered Nagarjuna his food. Then, you know, after 12 years, he, Aryana Gartana is called Arya for a reason. You know, he saw emptiness directly. You know, he went into a deep state of meditation. It's everything that the Hatha Yoga Pratipika is talking about. You know, he got his winds into the central channel. He saw ultimate reality directly. He became able to change the things around him and the things within him because he understood the true nature of everything around him. So after that, he started teaching and he attracted the attention of the sons of the Naga king. And the Nagas, they're like, they're otherworldly spirits. They usually live underneath the ground, and they're like, they're like dragon spirits or snake spirits or something, you know? And that's the reason why you see, when you see paintings of Aryana Garjana, he has like snakes above his head in a little parasol. They came because they were attracted to his teaching of the Dharma because it was so true. and they would come in emanation bodies because they couldn't come in their own actual form so they just came as youths, you know, these two boys and every time they would enter the room this really strong scent of sandalwood would fill the air and then they would leave and the sandalwood would go away and he asked them, he's like, you know, I'm going to build these temples and I would just love it if I could get some of that sandalwood that, you know, you smell so good one of the things about nagas is they hate humans because humans smell really bad and they smell so sweet so it was like a big deal for them to come to the human realm to get a dharma teaching because they don't like to be here because it smells bad to them so they asked their father the king and the father said well we'll give you some of this sandalwood for your temples we'll give you some of this naga clay but you have to come down to my realm So he went down to the realm of the Nagas. And while he was there, he discovered these missing texts, these missing books on the perfection of wisdom sutras. Which is, they're like the most profound texts on emptiness that were ever written. And he rediscovered them there. And they offered them to him as a gift. as an offering. And he went down to their realm and taught them Dharma. And as offerings, they gave him some of this clay for the temples and they gave him the books. You know, it's just like John Brady going to Mongolia or something, you know? You know, it's going to this really strange realm and braving all the elemental forces and coming back with these really rare treasures for the world. so he brought us the Prajnaparamita and that's the long version and that's the reason why we have it today then he lived for about 800 years and there is some dispute over whether there were one Aryanagartana or two or five some of the textual scholars they don't want to believe that this guy lived for 800 years so they say oh there must be two of them You know, there must be three of them. But there's very strong evidence to support that they were all one and the same person. And that, like, we've got documented evidence of someone living for 800 years. It's very astounding. And if this was a teaching on Arya Nagarjuna, I would sketch it all out for you. But we've got to do some Hatha Yoga Pradivika. So you have to trust me on that one. But it's really amazing. When he was, you know, getting older, I had like 790 or something, he made this sort of announcement that he was going to renounce all his worldly possessions. Not like he had a lot of them. And he was just giving away stuff. And this evil god came in the form of a yogi. And he said, well, I have made, I'm a Kapalika, you know, and I have made this great pledge. But I cannot finish my great pledge until I have the skull of a great wise man to drink my wine from. You know, and can I have your head? You know, I heard you're giving away stuff. Can I have your head? And Arjuna Garjuna said, yes. And he was searching madly for a person that would decapitate him. So he'd give his head to this guy, and nobody would. And he had a really hard time, you know, figuring out how he was going to give this person his head. And he looked into his past, and he saw that he had killed a bug with a blade of grass. So he picks up a blade of grass, and he uses it to decapitate himself, and he hands the guy his head. it's a it's an interesting story about the laws of karma you know how even a very very holy being who had this like slight karma left from killing another being it's kind of frightening actually to me because I've done so much worse than killing bugs and, you know, he could decapitate himself with a blade of grass from this one negative act of hurting another being. And I just shudder to think about all of my storehouses, you know. But the other thing that we can think about is this incredible, like, selflessness and love for other people that he would even give away his own body and his own life for the sake of someone that he knew wasn't even going to use it for that good of a purpose, you know. I think it was more a teaching for his students than it was an offering to this person, right? It was a teaching. Everybody around him saw him giving up the very most precious thing that he possessed, which was his own body. And he gave it away freely. And with no remorse and with total love in his heart for this other person. And if we could get a fraction of that kind of sense of giving or that kind of love for the people around us, you know, our lives would be a much better place. so we have one more reading from the Mahasiddhas and this is a small selection from Aryanagajana Arjuna Garjana, it's not hard to find selections from him. He wrote many texts. He has two major identities in his writings. One, he's a great yogi, great tantrikat, Mahasiddha. And in his other phase, he's very famous for having pretty much started the lineage of emptiness teachings, of deep emptiness teachings. He's called the Prometheus of emptiness teachings. He brought the emptiness teachings into this world. So I was looking over all the selections from him, and there's a lot of them in the Mahasiddha literature. And they were all about, he was a great alchemist, and he was a great, he understood the secrets of quicksilver and all these things. and there's lots of stuff about him and his teacher, Saraha, their knowledge of the inner body and the channels and the winds and Hatha Yoga and Vajra Yoga. And then finally, I just decided, you know, the one verse, the one word of Ayuragartya that we study in the monastery, over and over and over, It's nothing to do with Hatha Yoga and nothing to do with Raja Yoga. It's plain old good, being nice to other people, you see? It's just a verse about that. So I thought that's, if Ayana Gajna were here, I think he'd want us to talk about that one. So I put the verse here, it's from a book called Radnamala, which means a rosary of precious jewels. And it's a favorite of His Holiness the Dailama. He loves to teach this, he loves people to think about it. And this one verse is the most famous verse about karma in Buddhist literature. So if you never learn any other verse, if you want to know about karma, this is the most famous verse. So what we call the correlations. Do this, you get this. Do this, you get this. So I'll go through the correlations for these. Jinbei longchuh chimki de, seo pei dangden sunbuji, samden ki si lo yi dru, ningchei wei ni, jungkundu. Very, very famous, and they feed you on this in the monasteries from the age of seven. And you have to debate it, you have to memorize it. Jinbei longchuh means if you want money, you have to give things away. If you want to be financially secure in your life, you must give things away. And people are always coming up to me, you know, I don't believe it. I say, why? They say, it doesn't work. I say, why? Well, I gave away five bucks and, you know, nothing happened. You know, and you have to surrender completely to this teaching. You have to surrender completely. You have to no longer think of anything you own as your own. You have to think of other people as yourself. And anytime you see anyone that needs anything, it's just automatic. It's like the left hand would give to the right hand. It's not any kind of hesitation. You just don't see other needs as separate from your own needs. So anytime you hear someone needs something, or someone around you wants anything, you just give it as if you were putting it in your own mouth. You don't think differently between handing someone else a cookie and eating it yourself. You have to come to this place, and then you will never have any physical wants in your life, ever. Everything will come to you. But you have to reach that kind of surrender to this teaching. Jinbei long to. And it's perfectly, absolutely true. And we're trying to get business people to run their companies this way. We'd like to see a world where Ford and Chevrolet are competing to give away the most cars in order to raise their stock price, you see? Not for some stupid reason, you see? In order to succeed as a corporation, we shall give away. You know, we have a project, I'll pitch a project. is Rafael here? stand up and Mike Connor, are they here? they're over there Mike, is that? and I think I think Concha is here from Spain flew in this afternoon yeah yeah Barcelona and a lot of other people but these people are all working on a project it's called Global Wealth Initiative and they you can say it whenever you want They teach yoga, and they teach these principles to business people, to business executives. So if that's anything you'd like to work with, talk to them. But one of the ideas is that we think there's a new Cold War coming. Because China is rising. China is rising strong. I saw a movie. We saw a movie. I have no idea what it's like. Sunday? What's it called? I don't know. It starts with an S. It starts with an S. Celiana. Celiana? Celiana. Anyway, so it's this movie, and it's about Middle East tension, and then already, if you're sensitive to the media, if you don't see the media very often, you can see this tension being built up by the press and by the politicians between China and the United States. Like China is getting strong. Now they are threatening the oil supplies. They tried to buy Unicol for $8 billion, one of the largest American oil companies. And then Congress stopped it. So now Communist China is now Capitalist China. Now China is playing by all of our rules. And now $160 billion a year is going to China from America. You know, and they just surpassed us in electronics, right? So now this tension will start. Now there'll be this tension, you know. Oh, they're threatening our interests, you see? And then we saw this movie, and already they're talking like that in the movie. It's a fiction movie. It's George Clooney's movie. But they're already starting this seed of tension. in people. So this idea is if you had an oil crisis, why do you think the US is in Iran? We had the Voice of America came to our university to film for the China broadcasting be shown to a billion people and we're like we're like, do you think there's any connection between China's pressure on oil supplies in Iraq? And the director of the show is like you know and it's like really scary. It's like, of course, you know, what did you think? So what these guys are doing, they're working on a project to convince Americans that the way to keep your prosperity is to actively go to China and help poor people. You see? Actively go to China and help businesses get started, that will compete with you. You see? The karmic, if you really understand karma, mark my words, okay, if you really understand karma, and a country threatens your country economically, what should you do? Help them, embrace them, support them, make sure they get the oil they need. It's the last thing you would think, right? How do you get money as an individual? How do you make sure you get money? You must give it. You must give it. There's no other way. Jin be long chun. There's no other way. Oh, but internationally we don't want to do that. That would be... No. Individuals and countries are the same. If someone threatens your country economically, the smartest thing you can do is to get the business executives in your country to work on projects to help people in China build up their businesses stronger and to make sure they get oil, even at the cost of our oil. It's totally against human nature, which is why we're stuck in this lousy room. But think about it. Put the seed in your mind. It's very beautiful. It's very beautiful. So now they have this impossible task to try to spread this idea. among working people whose jobs are threatened. But this is karma. You must not just talk about karma. You must live karma. And you can't just live it on an individual basis. As a people, you give away. Why? A, it helps them. B, it's the only way to stimulate your economy. It's just beyond our... It's too hard for us. so that's my shtick about Nagarjuna if you really understand Nagarjuna we used it in our business we started this little business to help Tibet refugees it hit 200 million this year just giving away money it's cool so think about it so in a sense the teaching has gone all the way back to the beginning we're on the last full day of the teaching so it's gone all the way back to the beginning to yama and niyama. You want to be a good yoga teacher? You want to get strong? You want to get thin? You want to look younger? Which asana should you do? It's here. He says, beauty comes from not getting angry with others. You know? Strength and happiness comes from not harming others. See? It's so cool. So in my mind, we've come all the way around to the beginning of the class, the beginning of the course. None of the asanas does anything to you. None of the pranayamas do anything to you. You can shoot your channels into the central channels or you can leave it on the left and right side. It doesn't matter. Nothing works. Nothing. Except taking care of other people actively. then you'll end up going to a yoga studio and you'll meet David and Sharon no, that's what happens and then they help you be healthy that's how it happens you create them we're going to go to reading 8 it's chapter 4 verse 10 don't forget what we've done in this class we gave you the whole first chapter and then we're working on the fourth chapter right? because the fourth chapter is the chapter on ultimate yoga, raja yoga, emptiness yoga And we're going to sprinkle a little bit of the fourth chapter in each of the classes during the next two years. So you get a quarter of the fourth chapter in each course. Because it's so important. You can't go for ten days about how to move your leg or where to stick your arm. You have to bring it up to Raja Yoga. So you're going to get a little bit of Raja Yoga in every Hatha Yoga course. Okay. The various physical postures, the practices of the capsule and the different treatments as well, all work to awaken the magnificent feminine power. And with this, the inner wind melts into emptiness. So Hatha Yoga, the processes of Hatha Yoga, are meant to bring prana out of the two troublemaker channels, the two side channels, into the sundho, into the connection point of the three channels, and then bring prana up into the central channel. when it enters the central channel, then you see emptiness. The inner wind melts into emptiness, means the ultimate good thought is triggered when wind enters the central channel. And physical yoga, the asanas, is a very, very powerful and desirable way to do it. So that's just the meaning of this verse. Next page is chapter 4, verse 11 and 12. Upanishakti bodasya Tyakta nishesha karmanah Yogina sahajavastah Swayameva prajayate Sushumna vahini prane Shunye vishati manase Tadasarvani karmane Nir Bhulayati Yogavit A person who has been able to rouse the feminine power can eliminate then within themselves each and every karma and the simultaneous state of a yogi arises all in its own. When the inner winds rise within the sunray channel and the mind enters emptiness, then each and every karma, O you who understand yoga, is left without its root. So the feminine power here is Shakti. Everybody knows the word Shakti, right? I talked about it a little the other night. It's very interesting to me that there's a connection to me between the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the metaphors that are used in the Maha Siddhi stories. The idea of seeing part of your body as a feminine power, if you are a male, right? And then luring her up the central channel, like you would lure somebody that you wanted to date, right? It's, like, that's why they call it rousing the feminine power, you know? It's like a sexual metaphor for this thing that's happening in the inner body. And it's supposed to be like that. You're supposed to be having sort of a love affair with your inner body at this point, you know? And there are two different kind of energies in each and every one of your bodies. There's a male and female energy. And we do use this in our practices. And we do rouse them up, right? So, you know, you lure her. She travels up the central channel. She grants you emptiness. She is your deity. As, um, which Maha City was it that the deity came and said, uh, the angel is within you? You know, is it Varupa? I think it was Varupa. Right? Don't, don't look outside of you. You've spent 12 years in, you know, doing nothing. The angel is within you. Mmm. So the inner winds, they come into what's called the sunray channel, which is the sushumna, and the mind enters emptiness. So we go into the direct perception of emptiness. After you see emptiness directly, you become the one who understands yoga. You become the one who understands how to make yourself whole. You become the one who understands how to evolve into a being who could actually help another person. A being of light. And then you can eliminate within yourself each and every karma. Every negative karma. So you come out of the direct perception of emptiness, and you look around the room, and you realize very, very clearly that this roof is not being held up by the pillars. That this roof is held up by your kindness and compassion to other people. right we talked about it last night but you have this direct experience which um like right now it's just an idea in our minds right now it's like a kind of far-fetched idea in our minds that maybe this roof is not held up by the pillars maybe this roof is held up by our kindness to other people but we don't go around thinking that way normally. You know, we don't go around thinking that the interactions that we have with people, if they're pleasant, come from something good that we did to other people in the past. And then the interactions that we have with people that are unpleasant come from something negative that we did in the past. But after you see this thing directly, you come out and it's crystal clear to you that what you're seeing around you, what you think you see is a lie. And it's actually all coming from your karmic seeds. You realize that for the first time. And because of that, you can no longer do anything really negative to anybody else because it would be like shooting yourself in the foot. You would understand exactly what you're going to get in the future. You know, it would just be totally logical to you. If you yelled at somebody else or if you cheated somebody else, it would come back to you. It would be totally obvious and so you would never do it. Once you saw this thing, you could never do it. It would be so self-destructive. So that's one of the ways that our karma is eliminated. Because we stop doing negative things. The second way that our karma is eliminated is that the root is ripped away from all of our storehouse of karma. The root meaning ignorance. And they say seeing this ultimate truth stops the negative karma from ever ripening. You might have a huge storehouse of negative karmas from things that you did in your past lives, which are innumerable. You know, because we have lives, you know, beginningless time. We've got karma that we've collected. But they will never ripen, they will never go off. Because we have an understanding now that stops them from ripening. It's wild to me, this idea is wild. You know, that you could have all these karmic seeds in your pocket and they would never go off. Because you have this knowledge. How is that happening? How is that possible? It must be because you understand the emptiness of the karmic seeds themselves. Even the karmic seeds, even the storehouse of your karma in your heart is a projection. And that's really wild, you know. That has a lot of implications. So that's how the root is sort of ripped out, you know? We see everything is a projection. Even our own minds. Even our own karmic storehouse, Brian. You can debate me later. These are all the points from the debate ground. Okay. We'll go to verse 13. Amaraya Namastubhyam Sobhikaras Tvaya Jita Patetam Vadanes Yasyam Jagade Tacharacharam You want to change the battery? Battery change. I can take it out, but I can't put it in so well. Sorry. Thank you. Thank you. Hello. Thank you. I salute you, deathless God, you who have defeated death itself, the death whose jaws await the entire world, all that moves and all that stands still. She said I have to do this verse, because this is my favorite subject, okay? That the purpose of yoga, the purpose of religion, is to overcome death itself. and all suffering, right? Death is one kind of suffering. If all things, as Kristi has said, are projections, then the event of death is also a projection. All objects that we see are ultimately being projected from our own mind. Very, very important thing to say. It's not voluntary. You don't have control over it in the present moment. you are living the results of how you've treated people in the past. But in the present moment, you can't say, oh, my death is a projection of my mind. I'll just wish it away. You know? Positive thinking like that doesn't work. You know it doesn't work. If positive thinking could do anything, then I would have maple-covered donuts all day. So it just doesn't happen, I can tell you. So you can overcome. Even death is a projection of the mind, but forced on you by how you've treated others. And the word forced is important. In the present moment, you're not calling the shots. You're just experiencing the result of how you treated others in the past. You can only deal with the future. The future, if you're a tantrica or a yogi, could be five minutes from now. If you really understand emptiness, if you really understand the channels, you can lower the maturation time. You can lower the cooking time, ipacchate, it takes for the karma to ripen. A person who's into heavy karmas could get things happening within a few minutes or a day instead of a year or a lifetime, you see? But I wanted to talk about, in this verse, We've talked about death as a projection. But I wanted to talk about your high school girlfriend or boyfriend, okay? Because that's more important. People say, we got interviewed, right? By the kindness of Michael Hewitt and Chapman, right? So Time Out called us. We were in Vancouver, and they called us and they said, we'll interview you for your teaching at Yeramukti. So I said, yeah, you know. And they always ask me, you know, why did you become a mom, you know. So then I have to think, do I tell them the truth or not, you know. And if it's like time out, I say, oh, my mom died, my brother died, my father died, all within a year, you know. And it just pushed me into the monastery, you know. But if it's my close friends, I say, it was my high school girlfriends, you know. And they say, why, you know. And I said, I don't know, my parents had a, they loved each other a lot. And they had a long marriage, and they had four sons, and, you know, they did all the hard stuff. Then they got in a fight, then they got divorced. So, it was always very painful for me, and I swore I would never be like that. I would never argue with my girlfriend, I would never fight like that. I would never cause pain like that. You know, and then, you know, you know the story. You meet somebody in Starbucks, you know, or guess you Michael's teaching says, talk to somebody else in the room, and you meet somebody, you know, And for the first couple of weeks, they're like, oh man, finally I found the one, you know? And then you have your first fight, right? Some little thing, you know, it's in a restaurant. And they say, well, actually I don't really like cheesecake, you know? And you're like, but you ate cheesecake the whole first six weeks we knew each other. Yeah, yeah, I know, but I didn't know you, so I was just going along with it, you know? But to tell you the truth, I really don't like cheesecake. You know, you're like, and then the crack starts in the relationship. You know, I thought I'd found the perfect girl, but she doesn't like teeth care, you know. And then it starts, you know, then it starts. And then you start seeing more and more things. And then finally, I don't think there's any more, there's no more greater hatred than between people who are close and who are broken up now. And they won't even talk to each other, they won't even look at each other across the room anymore. if you're in a room with them it's really uncomfortable so I determined at a certain age that A, relationships are never going to work they just can't work the nature of relationships is that they can't work B, I must be some sort of really bad person because I'm doing exactly what my parents did then I met Buddhism and I talked to all the lamas so now we're talking about relationships and things that you own and your own body and your house and your job, decay is built in. Decay is built in. And they have a joke. It's not a joke. It's a scripture. It says, the thing which produces an object destroys it. The production of a relationship or the production of a building of Jiva Mukti on Lafea. The first painting of the first wall destroyed Jivamukti. You see? The first rent check that went to Crunch Jam or whoever else, I don't know. The first rent check assured that the place would not be here later. You see? It's very profound. The birth of a human being guarantees that they will die. It's very profound. But why? You see, why? And then later you learn in the monastery. Every good thing in your life has come because you did something good to somebody else. Every nice person you ever met, you met them because you helped other people meet nice people. Right? And the minute the relationship starts, that karma is wearing out. Why? It's producing the relationship. So the longer the relationship goes on, what? The more the karma decays. Until finally, you must break up. every relationship must end must end you'll either fight and break up or one of you will die and there's nothing sadder my Lama used to say the karma for people who can stay in a relationship their whole life is so tight that kind of karma is rare and it's tight like 5% of couples stick together their whole life and then the karma is so tight that when one dies the other one dies usually pretty soon after you see so events will tear you apart the we're getting serious here where was I? events will tear you apart events will tear you apart even if you can not fight with each other events will tear you apart one person will be torn away from the other it's inevitable because it's created by how how you treated others. There's a seed, and when the seed produces the tree, the growing of the tree destroys the seed. Right? Always. It's like that. But here it says, I salute you, who understands how to stop death from consuming all that moves and all that doesn't move. And what it means is people and things. You see? I salute you yogis who understood how to stop that. Okay? How to get wind into the central channel. It's very beautiful. A yogi who understands the prana, how to get the prana into the central channel, overcomes this decay of all things. They overcome not only the decay of their own body. What it means when it says, what doesn't move means the building or your relationships or things. you can overcome the death of those things too. All forms of death, of things and of people and of relationships, can be ended. If you understand the seeds, how to work with the seeds. And I'll just give you one thing. What is it like in the end? How does your relationship stay forever? How do you both stay forever? What do you think? Let's put it in terms of oil supplies. you know, oil supplies are running out big time oil supplies are running out big time the number of cars in the world is going to increase by 50% in the next 8 years you know so it's not the car yeah yeah okay but where do oil supplies come from? from giving oil to people. You see? They come from giving oil to people. Get used to it. Become a yogi. Become a true yogi. You have to think the opposite of the way you used to think. How do we prevent the decay of our own body? And if oil supplies... By the way, oil supplies would be nice too. Give them to somebody. Give them to somebody. You see? Protect other people's lives. Protect other people's livelihoods. make sure people in other countries get their oil before you take your own. You see? Didn't there be some new energy thing will come? Oh, I don't believe it, you know? What do you mean some new energy thing will come? Look at the web. Look at the web. We were in three-year retreat, okay? Before the web, we were in three-year retreat. Then we came out and there's this web thing, you know? And now and now, like, I was with some diamond dealers the other day. I said, my God, you know, 50% of the business is done on the web now. No, no. People want to see a diamond before they buy it. No, they don't. 50%, you know, it's like, wow. You know, and 5 billion people, 3 billion people can now, people in India, we were there. Just every other shop is an email place. And everybody in every country can sit there and talk to some girl in Irkutsk, you know. And it's, no, we watched it. It was cute. It's amazing. It's just amazing. New things are produced which suddenly change the entire balance of the planet by how we treat other people. So don't doubt it. Don't be stupid. Give. Give to other people. Everything. Without hesitation. And then some beautiful new thing will come. That's how it comes. And things will not decay in your world. Relationships will not end in your world. If you continue to support other people's relationships actively, then your relationship will last forever. It's very beautiful. You just keep pumping karma in there. Every time you get a result of karma, like you get five bucks from somebody, you give it away. And then you start this, you start this, what do you call it? Yeah, you start this unstoppable wheel of things and it just keeps running. And the money just keeps coming in. And the biggest problem you'll have is like you know okay alright alright verse 14 chite samat fam apane vayau vrajati madhane tadam roli vajrali sahajoli prajayate the mind in a balanced state move the inner winds into the center this is the way we achieve the goal of the elixirs the immortal quicksilver diamond and the spontaneous so this this verse is about um three things that we're actually going to cover in chapter three so we're not really going to touch on them much here, except to say that these are advanced practices. Arjuna Gajna was known for working with Quicksilver, and it's said to be some sort of way to attain immortality. It's a method of attaining immortality. but these practices so all of these practices are yogic ways of attaining immortality and like the word samadvam the sama part is like samadhi and it means a state of balance putting the mind in a state of balance and you can see that in a thought way, but you can also see it in the way of like watching your two nostrils and seeing whether the breath is flowing out the right or the left more strongly. And as your mind gets into a more balanced state, the flow of the air through both nostrils becomes even. It becomes balanced. And that's the first stage of Kevala Kumbhala, where the breath just stops. The first stage is that the nostrils, the air in the nostrils flows out through both together. If you're ever in a long retreat, you can test this out. You could watch your right nostril and your left nostril for a really long period of time, and you'll realize that every hour and a half it sort of switches from being more predominant in the right to being more predominant in the left, unless you have some sort of weird cold, which is a channel block, which there's some sort of emotional reason for anyway. But all of these things become very apparent to you as you start to watch your body. And it's like a physical, like we were talking about the drops of consciousness the other day, there's always a physical representation of what the mind is doing. And so these are like physical practices that correspond to the mental practices of achieving deathlessness. And these particular practices involve the union of the male and the female energies. Most often they are practices with a partner. And this could be either an outside physical partner or it can be an imagined partner in your mind. But it's utilizing a partner to call out the energy inside of you that is less predominant. Everybody has male and female energies running inside of them. Most often, if you are a male, you have more male energy. If you are a female, you have more female energy running through your body. The idea of balance here is that when you become an enlightened being, you are all of both. You have a balance of male and female energy so that you are able to emanate as either with equal ease. You might choose to appear as a female form or you might choose to appear as a male form because that might be appropriate for your disciples or the people you're trying to bring up. But really, you're both. You know, you're... It's very interesting. The enlightened beings, they don't have any sexual organs. They're just whole beings with both energies running fluently through their body. So we use this imbalance of our energy as a path, you know. And this is what Amaroli and Vajroli and Sahajoli is, and we'll get to it later. But a lot of the times it involves utilizing the sexual energy for a higher purpose. And what you have to realize there is that that energy is just a raw energy that produces all of our drives. It's the same energy that produces our drive to write a beautiful poem. And it's the same energy that produces our drive to make many, many projects. And it's the same energy. You know, some people have a lot of it. And it's prana in its essential form. It's like raw prana. And it's valuable. It's so valuable to the yogi, this prana. And it's so, with proper training, this prana in its raw form can be utilized for very, very powerful effects in the mind. You know, these practices are very strong practices for getting the winds into the central channel quickly. More quickly than with a normal asana practice. and shoving yourself into the direct perception of emptiness. But they can only be done through the guidance of a qualified teacher because messing around with that kind of intense prana can be very risky if you do it on your own. So we will talk about that in Chapter 3. You all have to come now. Right. Those practices, by the way, were mentioned by Nara Sinham yesterday in the film. I don't know if you caught it. Especially Dharaman, he said Vama Moga. I said Vama Moga. And it's the left hand path. And he was referring to that, that it was the highest extension of Raja Yoga. So that was nice to see. Okay. We're on verse 15. We have two days to go over here. Yeah. Sure. Jnanaṁ kūta manasi sambhavati hātavat prāno pi jiva-ti-mano mriyate nāyavat prāna-mano dvāyamidam vilāyam nāyanyo mokṣaṁ sa gacati nāno nākathaṁ cip-anyā As long as the inner wind is alive in the body, the mind cannot die. So how will you ever attain wisdom? When these same two of the wind and the mind dissolve, then freedom comes. How could it be any other way? So he's saying that you want the mind to die. And then because of statements like that, people misunderstand that, and then they think, oh, I should go sit in a corner and I should meditate until I don't think about anything anymore. But that's not what enlightened beings do, right? We had it at the very beginning. The yogis are still here, like Gauraksha. Brahmante Vicharantante. He's still wandering the world, helping people. They're still thinking, and they're still helping people. Your mind has to be taken away from dull thoughts and taken away from stupid thoughts, ignorant thoughts, that mind will die. But then the mind which is full of love and knowledge, that mind will live. So how do you get that mind to die? How do you get the other kind of mind to die? And what he says here, when he says, they must dissolve. And what he's talking about here is the two side channels. And we've talked about them over and over again. they're bad guys in many different ways and I'm just going to give you one more way. One more way. You can think of it in terms of relationship. You and your partner in a relationship. You and your partner. I have a relationship with my partner. So in a way I am the subject and my partner is the object. So when I think about Kristi La, when I think about my partner, there's prana moving in the right hand channel, the Surya, the Sun channel, right? There's prana moving in this channel, and I'm misunderstanding her. And when I think about me in this relationship, then that thought is running in the left hand channel, and I'm misunderstanding me. So what is an example? So, you know, let's say some guy comes up to her, you know, after the teaching is like holding her hand and like talking intimately with her, and then I get jealous, right? Her as an object, I'm misunderstanding. When I feel jealousy, how do you know when you have prana running in one of the wrong channels, right or left? What's a sign? Breathing changes? You're unhappy. Okay? some negative thought is there. Some kind of negative thought. In this example, jealousy. Anytime you have any kind of unhappiness, the prana is in the wrong place. Period. Automatic. So what's your barometer for how your prana is going? How happy are you? No, really. You want to know where your prana is at? Like if you don't want to spend three years in retreat and try to figure out where it is by feeling, which I still can't do, okay? But I know if I'm jealous, I know the prana is over here, sorry, over here, because I'm thinking of her as an object, and I'm misunderstanding the object in our relationship. It's over here. And I feel, that's why people get ulcers, for example, and things like that. The side channels are connected to, like, the health of your stomach and things like that, and your heart, and that's why people have heart attacks. So, misunderstanding in this case means what? If some guy comes up and gloms on her, hits on her, why? Why? Because I did it to somebody else's partner. You have to think like that. Now that you're a yogi, you can't think stupid anymore. No, yogi, you're a prana master. You're a prana specialist. You're interested in, you spend hours and hours doing your asanas. you've got to one five minute attack of jealousy with your partner can destroy lots of classes even Ruth's classes not really, all that work getting the Prana, just a little bit of Prana in the central channel after an hour and a half of Lady Ruth telling you don't shake Geshe Michael how do you you just ruin it all it all leaks down, it all gets over to this side if I have a five minute jealousy attack so when something like that is happening what do I have to do? should I like it? is it nice? should I just smile? Buddhists are supposed to never get upset no no don't trust those teachings don't trust those teachings somebody comes to you and says oh look your partner is getting gone by something be happy just be happy No, don't buy it. Don't buy it. Don't buy it. Don't buy it. Say, no, I want to stop the glams altogether. I just don't want it to happen at all. Well, so how do I do that? In the present moment, you can't do much. It's like hard cement. The cement is hard. Chip away at cement with a hammer. In the present moment, the cement is hard. But you can deal with the future. So respect other people's partners. People are always coming to me with their problems. If you think 20 people are in line, 19 of them have a problem. And say, how do I fix my relationship? Respect other people's relationships. Yeah, but, don't yeah, but me. Just go home and respect. Yeah, but I'm not in a problem right now. You can't do much about that problem. You have to deal with it karmically. How do you deal with a relationship problem karmically? Respect other people's relationships. Like, honor them 100% totally and dedicate it to your problem. It'll go away in a while. Okay? Got it? How are we getting to that? Oh, dissolving the two side channels. Get that prana out of those two side channels. If you feel upset, jealous, angry, want that maple-covered donut bad enough to hit somebody, then you have prana in the wrong places. And you need to dissolve it into the middle. So do your asanas. That's working from the outside. And then respect the laws of karma from the inside. And everything will come out. Amen. This is short. We'll do one short more verse before the break. Shnyatva suhshumna sa bidam, kutva vayum ca madyagam. Sthitva sa daiva su stane, rahmarandre nirodayat. In knowledge we pierce the sunray channel, and the wind then moves into the middle. Stay now in these best of places, in cessation at the pure one's door. Hmm. So we use the knowledge of emptiness to pierce our central channel and get the wind to move into the center. And this produces certain kinds of cessations in our mind. The first one is our own tendency to see things wrongly. Our belief in the lie around us. You know, thinking that the person who you are relating to is hurting you. That someone else is hurting you and that you're not really hurting yourself. Right? Once you see emptiness directly, you realize that every single pain that you've ever experienced that seems to be coming from another source, it seems to be coming from outside towards you. You realize that that's the lie and that it's all coming from you hurting other people in the past. So the first cessation is to believe that you stop believing in the lie. It's ended forever. It still seems like that to you when the winds, they enter the central channel for a while, and then they come out again. And then you're in normal reality again, and then it still seems to you the same way. I mean, it still appears like other people are coming to you and either making you feel good or making you feel bad. It still appears that way, so it still looks the same as before you saw Antinous directly, But now you just, you don't buy it anymore. You know, you can't because you saw the truth. That's the first cessation. Then the second cessation is you use that truth, that knowledge that you got from seeing that thing, that beautiful ultimate reality to stop all of your negative emotions and negative states of mind forever. and even the seeds for them forever. So you use this knowledge that every single thing is coming from me to stop every single jealousy that you've ever had, to stop every single moment of anger, even like a tiny seed for anger, even a tiny seed for irritation or impatience. It's all gone forever. You could have a mind, you use this to clean your mind and have this perfectly peaceful mind that is never shaken by anything. Is never disturbed. The word for negative state of mind or mental affliction is klesha, right? It comes from the word klish. It means to bother, to distress you. It's like an irritating little thing that's happening in all of our minds all the time because we don't understand. And that disappears forever. We stop that forever. That's our cessation. Then the third cessation is our limitation. We are limited right now by our one body and our limited capacity in our mind. So we can't really help many people because we can only be at one place at one time. And once you reach the state of an enlightened being, once you reach a state where you have total control over the forms that your body and mind takes, you are able to send out as many forms as you want to as many people as you want. And you are no longer limited by time and space. You are no longer limited by this one body. You are no longer limited by the lack of knowledge because you can read every single person's mind in the universe. You can hear them all and know exactly what they need. And this is the, I mean, this is the ultimate goal, but I mean, you have to think of it in terms of, you know, gradual stages. We have to become, we all have to be teachers. We all have to pass on this knowledge to other people because we were lucky enough to get this granted to us. And wouldn't you, you know, feel bad if you were the one to let the lineage die? You know, if it stopped at you. You know, it went all the way from Arya Nagarjuna and then it stopped at you. You know, like, don't do that. You've got to take what you know. I mean, you've got to take what you've been granted and try and embody it and try and use it experientially so that you actually get some sort of experiential realizations of these teachings. Like, oh, I get it. You know, you take the teachings and you try to practice them, basically. It's as simple as that. You try to practice them day to day. And then you look for worthy vessels to pass it on to. And maybe it's one other person. And maybe it's five people. Maybe it's your mom, you know. It doesn't matter. You're looking for worthy vessels to pass it on to because you're now the holder of this knowledge. So you become the teacher, and then you start to realize how limited you are when you're teaching other people if you can't read their own thoughts. You're very, very limited by what you perceive as the outward appearance of this person. Wouldn't it be so great while you were teaching this person, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, if you could hear, you know, you could reach into their mind and see their karma and see, like, what is it they most need to hear right at this very second? And then emphasize that so that they could get the richest experience of this teaching possible. You know, you have to strive to start wanting to be a person like that. Wanting to be a person who, like, Sharon Davies, she was talking about this. We were bugging them and bugging them about doing this book on assists because they're so amazing in their assists. They, like, I don't even know how to describe it, but, you know, Sharon Davies, she was talking to me, And she said, well, we just have to put our minds into the other people. And then, like, all the knowledge of what to do with the body comes because we just listen to them really well. And you have to be those kind of teachers, you know, with the body and the mind, you know. You have to be at the point where you're so sensitive to your students that you could just reach out and listen. And hear exactly what they need to do next. and grant it to them. And then you start getting this feeling like that will increase more and more as you practice. That ability increases more and more as you practice and you're able to give things, like the highest things, like these teachings to other people. And it's, it will make you so happy, you know? It will make you so happy to spend your life in this holy pursuit, you know, passing on these holy teachings to other people. It is like the purest good raw karma for happiness is to make other people, give other people that kind of real happiness, you know. The ability to make their own happiness because you're giving them the key to everything, you know? You're giving them the understanding of emptiness. You're giving them the key to immortality. You're giving them the immortal quicksilver in these teachings. So, anyway, that's the last cessation that occurs with this practice, right? You stop being limited. Stop being limited. in your service of other people. Now I see Michael has a bunch of things to say. Are you going to do the Christian thing first? Okay. I'd love to talk about DM, but right now? First? he's making me go first again I don't know we're supposed to show this slideshow yeah so today we're supposed to talk to you about Diamond Mountain, Diamond Mountain is like my favorite place in the whole world tell me what Diamond Mountain is Dying Mountain is our university in Arizona that has been open for one and a half years now. We're on our third term when we get back on Easter, right? And it's this place in the middle of nowhere, in the desert, where people can go and learn a very, very serious study of these things. You know, not in a weekend teaching and not in a period of a couple weeks. Oh, by the way, I want to thank Ferenz and Benjamin and Rebecca and everybody else who helped get all these pictures together at the last minute last night. And I apologize for not having all the pictures in the world. But, so, that's our student body. that's our stupa that's our trampoline it's a really good lung remedy okay so that's that's our yurt that's Geshe Michael and my yurt and that's the desert so we're Diamond Mountain is devoted to taking people That's Evan. To the highest level that they can go to. Like I said, it's not a weekend teaching and it's not a couple weeks teaching when you're in your busy life in New York, doing other things and being distracted. That's me and Taya. That's Idle. And that's Idle, yeah. That was the subject of yesterday's teaching. That's little too. We stuck two pictures of her. But if you really want to pursue spirituality as a career, you know, I mean, if you come to these teachings and you realize that there's nothing better that you want to do with your life than to learn more about these holy things, this is the best place that I've ever been to learn them. And we will, you know, we're teaching until 2010, and then we're going into a three-year retreat. And most of the people who are coming are probably planning to do some part of that retreat. And all of the people who are coming are planning to be teachers. So it's a place where you learn how to pass on these things to others, like I was just talking about in the last verse. And you learn how to meditate, and you learn how to practice the teachings in more of a deep way than, you know, just in the grocery store with the 31 Flavors Lady. You know, you learn all the deeper arts of these practices so that you can go the fastest way possible to reach your goal. That's our oldest student, right? Allegra. She's like, I don't know how old she is. 87 or 88 or something like that. That's John. He's loading bricks. He's stacking Adobe bricks, not me. Yeah, can I do it? Yeah. That's us in the process of building our temple. The roof isn't on yet. It's a dance department. It's a Saco, one of our dance teachers. That's a pancake breakfast in Bui. To support the children's center. Those are some of our lamas. yeah there you do that's Earl's campground meeting Earl's campground meeting that's a big Shiva from that's an album cover that's another album cover they told us to look mean that's Bowie that's three jewels in Bowie that's a faked picture we really were doing it though we really were doing it so anyway the place is free and you just have to show up and it's for teachers so many of the people there everyone there is learning to teach. So I just wanted to, can you move the lights up just a little bit? I want to introduce you to some of the teachers. And then I promise you can get a break. So I'm going to ask these people to stand up. You don't have to applaud for them until the end. And these are our professors, okay? And I may have forgot like five people, but don't mind me. This was in the taxi cab. Lady Tisama, can you stand? she's teaching where is she? you have to stand up she's teaching she's doing a special course in mantras Sanskrit mantras it's been going on for the whole year and she's doing another semester in that and she's also a fire offering, Hama Master and working on she's also teaching dance Lady Ora where is she? she's also been teaching sadhana practice. She translated the, over the course of the last eight years, she's translated a lot of the sadhana practices and the fire homa practices and then teaches them to students. Chukila, Venable Chukila. Chukila is the director of Diamond Mountain. She's the director of the whole place. So we divided into the university and the retreat center director of the whole place. She's also the professor of Vinaya. Vinaya means the monastic discipline, the rules for monks and nuns. And it's a huge subject, and she has a five-year course. And she's translating the root text. Then about Ellie. You have to stay. You have to stay. She's a member of the board of directors, and she's in charge of the whole retreat aspect of Diamond Mountain, especially the three-year retreat. So if you have any intention to do a three-year retreat. By the way, a three-year retreat means if you show up for a week, we'll still take you. Okay. James and Lizette. James, Connor, Lizette, Garcia. Lizette's not here. Lizette's not here. Yeah. Okay. You have to be the representative. They're teaching a lot of the meditation courses and ACI courses and how to change your reality or something like that. I don't know. Okay. What was that? Oh, Brian Pearson. And who's teaching my vision course? And Bliss Roland. Just stand up. Don't be shy. You guys have to stand up together. They're also working on a project to bring yoga into the prisons. And we started one. And Lisa Shrimp is right here. She's been teaching in the local high, what do you call it, maximum security, 20 years to life prison for about the last two years. And they just love her and she's just really devoted and we'd like to expand that program. So if you have any desire to help with that in your local prison, I think there's, we have the highest rate of incarceration in the world and there are hundreds of thousands of people, millions of people in this country are in prison and they really appreciate yoga and it's really good for them in many ways. So if you're interested in working on that, talk to Brian or Bliss. Oh, Ian, where is he? He's one of our Sanskrit professors. Mama Maru. He gave up the shishi tenured job at UC something to come to Dhamma and teach for free. And he's one of the greatest Sanskritists around. And so he's been teaching ACI courses and YSI courses. John Brady. He teaches ACI courses there. Ven. Eric Brinkman. Mary teaches debating and Tibetan language. What does that say? I don't know. Oh, Kimberly. She has a yoga program. Students at our university are not allowed to do any outside activity until 1 o'clock. They have to do yoga and they have to meditate. They have to do their study. So she's arranged the yoga program in the morning for all the students there. White Lama, Doug, Vienha. He's teaching one of the meditation courses, and also he's in charge of the Property Development Committee. He built the temple. He's a, what do you call it, licensed contractor. He was in charge of the temple. That's it. Oh, Rebecca Vinicor? Where is she? I don't know. She's got to cover. As usual. She's in charge of our overseas study program. So we have students who go to Tibetan monasteries during the breaks, and she's in charge of our program. And they raise money, and they get them over there, and they learn to debate and speak Tibetan in the Tibetan monasteries. It's very successful. She's done that, with a lot of help from somebody else sitting over there who I won't embarrass him. Right, Michael Gordon? Okay. And Adriana is in charge of the dance department. And she's got great dancers from Nepal, India, Japan, and what's the other thing? Ballet. Yes. And Giselle's helping out with that. Where's Giselle? Right behind. Yeah, she's right there. She's too shy. Okay. Anatole teaches yoga there. Venable Gyasi has been teaching ACI courses there. Zori was teaching one of the meditation courses. I probably forgot a lot of people, and I'm sorry if I forgot. Alistair has been teaching a lot of courses. ACI. ACI. Where is he? yeah he's there and I probably forgot some people and I'm sorry but the point the point I'm trying to make is that and these people are teaching all over the world now and Carl's been teaching Carl's been teaching okay and we want you to learn to be a teacher and you don't have to you know we're just trying to produce you don't know how much fun it is to do what we do you know it's like the ultimate fun thing, right? And, and, and, no, we want you to do it. It's just, you don't know what it's like until you do it. And then, you know, everybody thinks, oh, I couldn't do that. And then most of the people who stood up just now, they thought they couldn't do it, you know? And, and now they're teaching, like, some of them are teaching hundreds of people, you know? So, so think about it. And it's free? You just gotta get there, you know? And, that's all. We want you to come. During the break, I have to see Kimberly, Renee, Ellie, Mike Connor, Chris from the Stock Exchange. What's that thing? Mercedes. Mercedes, we're going to do a thing after the break. Chinzong, Dvorah, Ness, Ratesh, John, Brady. That's all. for those of you in that Diamond Mountain meditation class I finally brought your books I finished them and Ness will be handing them out to you during the break but if you want to come and look for them yourself you're more than welcome to they'll be up on the stage here take a break but this is a schedule of all the teachings going on by Diamond Mountain teachers in the next six months or so So try to get a copy of that. It's all over the world. Have a nice break. I need to see Ness and Andreana and some other people. They know. No, no, wait. We're going to leave it up. We're going to leave it up during the break. Nishima wants them to leave it up during the break. Okay. I had to see... Oh. Who was asking me? I can... We can do something. Don't worry about it. Okay. Okay. No, different. I think that might be David's sister. Let me ask. Where is... You see this? You could ask. It's right there. Oh. Oh, oh, oh. That's for... Yeah, ask for who that is. Did you... Uh, first thing you saw. Oh, it's not. What is this? Please thank the lady who did the interview for. Just give her a few minutes here. Yeah, just tell her it helped a lot. And Aida was very well done. She said just talk to Mercedes. Okay. It's neither the Julie's. It should be a third. Hong Soongba is better. the director of the three jewels and she's got, I don't know. Is she here? Ask her if she's here. So I'll just ask her to stand up. A third party. We should start. You okay? Sure. I understand. Hello, hello. Okay. Let's start. I have one more thing to pitch you, okay? The pitches get more the later it gets. This is another project we're doing. It's called Star in the East. And it's a project to bring Tibetan meditation methods into Christian churches. Without any Buddhism, without any Hinduism. Just offer people methods of concentration and practices that they can use to relate to Jesus more. And so, this is just something we started and Mercedes. Where's Mercedes? Stand, stand. Mercedes has been working on it. And this is a monastery in Ladakh. This is not Diamond Mountain yet. And one of their projects is working with ACIP, John Brady's project. And they're finding their permission from the government of India and Ladakh to go through 50 monasteries there, go through all the books they own, which are about 2,000 years old, and try to find evidence of Jesus having been in Ladakh. So that's a whole side project that they're doing. And then I think in a week or two, we're in Houston giving talks at George Bush Sr.'s church. on this. It's about also how St. Thomas reached India and his teachings reached Tibet. And a lot of the Buddhist teachings of Tibet may have come, may have been influenced strongly by Jesus' teachings. So they're working on this and we're teaching people that. So if that's something you'd like to work on, If you have a Christian meaning, then feel free to talk to Mercedes. We're working on now a Jewish project of the same kind. And we're working with some Talmudic scholars from Tel Aviv. We were there in the summer. And Rebecca Vinacor, who's behind this camera, are you still there? She's working on that project. So if you have a close connection to Judaism and you'd like to work on a project like that, then talk to either one of these guys. We're starting an Islamic project sometime. It's not ready yet. Okay. What's the other thing? Oh, Mercedes and Ora, who are two of the senior teachers from Diamond Mountain. Can you raise your hand? Yeah, Ora's been doing all your readings. She's been up to 4 o'clock every night. Okay. Yeah, you should give her a hand. and Andriana and Ian Rick, can they raise their hand? and Ellie but anyway Ora and Mercedes are going to give a one day workshop this Saturday at the Three Jewels from 1 to 4 p.m. And it's called The Marriage of Yoga and Buddhism. And it's a Tibetan Heart Yoga class and then some Buddhist meditation and philosophy. All right. We're going to do just a little touch. Right now we just caught up to where we're supposed to be for today. So that's kind of embarrassing for Christy and me because we're always supposed to be behind. So we're just going to do, We thought to give you an easy night tonight. So maybe we'll do a verse or two. And then we'll concentrate on this tomorrow because we don't want to. So tomorrow you'll get another reading. We don't have a lot of time tomorrow because what? Party! Yeah, so you have to come and have a good party, okay? Bring somebody or a couple of people. Like I said, my editor's going to be here and I want to impress him with lots of people at the book signing. So then he'll do the Jetson Kaba book, okay? So dress nice. And Kimberly said you can bring all your friends you want and just sneak them in for free, right? I mean, if they weren't intending to come already, okay? But just if your friend doesn't have to stand outside between 8 and 9 o'clock. If you want to just bring somebody for the 9 o'clock party, they don't have to stand outside. They can come in. you know, I'm taking this opportunity to bring some people that I work with in the diamond business that I just want them to hear like five minutes of teaching. Like, so we'll go to 9.05 and all those people will hear five minutes worth and then, you know, maybe in a hundred lifetimes they'll get to Jeeva Mukti. So, please feel free to bring anybody. Okay, we'll do the first verse from reading 9 which is verse 17 I will explain the secret of time time is held by the sun and the moon making it into night and day but time is devoured by the central one I saw an ad on the side of a bus I'd like to get my cultural injection in New York and it said we have the most obnoxious loud cell phones you can get and I thought it was really a smart idea you know but that was pretty close so This verse is very cool. Do you know Kalachakra, right? The Dalai Lama teaches Kalachakra. This is a high tantra. And it's a custom in Tibet that only the Dalai Lama teaches the Kalachakra. And then he's allowed to teach it to everybody. So it's a secret teaching that the Dalai Lama, you know, you pay your $38 and you get to come to the Kalachakra. and he reveals this high secret teaching to anybody who shows up. And this has been going on for hundreds of years. And this is just a custom. Because the Kala Chakra is a special Tantra. It means Wheel of Time, right? And one of the main teachings of the Kala Chakra is that there's this profound connection. We've been talking about the connection of the prana and your thoughts, right? So we said, when you get jealous of Christi or somebody, that jealousy towards an object is running through your right channel. And then when you start to get upset and feel upset, that's running through your left channel because that's the subject. So subject and object are connected. The thoughts are connected to your prana. If you get angry, prana is forced into the right-hand channel. If you do a seated spinal twist, Machendara to the left, you release the prana from the right channel. You see? So we are working from the outside and the inside to balance the channels. Because thoughts and winds are connected. Thoughts and winds ride in tandem. Thoughts and prana are always connected. But there's a cooler thing, which is one of the main teachings of the Kalachakra Tantra, which is what Christy was speaking about yesterday. the body forms on the channels when you're in the womb. So the reason you have two nostrils is because this is the termination point of the left and right channels. That's why we have two nostrils. If we had only had one channel we would all be walking around with one big nostril here. You see what I mean? Then as Christy said yesterday the outer world forms around that. This room is forming around your channels. And we teach it sometimes to Manhattan people. We say, your left-hand channel is the FDR Drive. Your right-hand channel is the West Side Highway. And Fifth Avenue is your central channel. You know, then people like giggle and say, I'm not kidding. It's not kidding. your world, the kind of streets you have around you, are forming around your channels. This is the Kalachakra Tantra. This is a very high teaching of the Kalachakra Tantra. And in New York, they're quite orderly. It's kind of cool. And like in L.A., yogis in L.A., they have sort of different channels. And out in Bowie, we just have one lousy dirt road going down one really bad road. Our road is like impossible up to our house. It just rips out the bottom of any car and I try to see it. So, that's how our channels are. But, so what does that mean? You can go even further beyond this city to the sun and the moon themselves. You see? The right-hand channel is creating the sun. and the left hand channel is creating the moon. The sun and the moon themselves have formed around your own body's channels. And your channels go through these alternations. Prana naturally alternates between the channels. That's responsible for day and night. The movement of the sun, the movement of the stars, the moon. And the reason why high yogis were so interested in astrology astrology is considered a high art in Tibet like my lama was granted the teachings on astrology after he became the highest geshe in Tibet you know, and it was a big deal so it wasn't like predicting like if you're Sagittarius you're going to have a fight tomorrow with somebody because you didn't get any sleep because you were at that yoga teaching it's not like that it's like a very high thing it's like the reason you see a star in the sky like I have my favorite star, it's serious? it's this blue star that hangs out at the bottom of who's that guy with the sword? Orion. It's just my favorite thing, you know? And I feel some connection with my chakras with this star. And this is true. This is not a... This is a high teaching. The stars in the sky are a reflection of the binders in your own channels. You see, for you. Each person is different, right? So, what's it got to do with this verse? The secret of time is that time is held by the sun and moon making it into day, but the central one devours it. It means the central channel, Sushumna, will devour the two side channels. So what's going to happen to the FDR when your side channels dissolve? When they collapse, laya, when they collapse into the central channel, what's going to happen to the FDR? What's going to happen to the sun and the moon? Time itself changes. Time itself, space itself, is utterly changed because the two facts of space and time are created by your own channels. It's like awesome. It's like unthinkable. The facts of space and time themselves are created by your own channels, your left and right channels, the movement of your left and right channels. So what happens is, when all the prana moves into the central channel, the universe itself shifts. becomes paradise, you think of paradise as maybe it's like three miles up in the sky and a little bit to the left or something. It's not like that. It's like when this laia happens and the sun and the moon themselves dissolve into the central channel, the entire universe will change for you. And that's how the universe changes into heaven. And that's how you get to heaven. It's very profound. And we teach this at the Christian churches in there. We spend a lot of time on heaven, and we work really hard on it. And then they get it, and it's so exciting to watch a person who's committed to the Christian path, to suddenly get it that they could get to heaven in this lifetime. It's very beautiful. This is a very beautiful teaching. So we'll talk more about that in the coming courses. We're going to stop there because it's good luck. Kala Chakra. Let's give away the good karma, okay? We'll see you tomorrow. We'll have a wild party, okay? Wild party for yogis and buddhists is like they're standing around wondering when they can get home to do their meditation. Thank you. Jukshin mei do Satsang with Mooji Thank you. Satsang with Mooji 響鐘 Thank you. Thank you for coming and thank you for letting us talk about these things.
