Abertura
**Speaker 1**
So, we were just doing Mahatham. I think Michael was doing a demonstration.
**Speaker 1**
Yeah. So, A. Mohameda is one letter extended and one of the seals is right in touching your yawning.
**Speaker 1**
The foot can either be like your heel is in your front end and then the foot can either be stretched out so the toes are facing the same way in the leg or you can tuck the toes in so that they're actually underneath the leg.
**Speaker 1**
There are a few different ways of doing it and it kind of depends on what's the most comfortable for you.
**Speaker 1**
you should be in the pose with both of your sit bones also on the floor.
**Speaker 1**
So if sitting on your heel raises yourself up off of your sit bones,
**Speaker 1**
you've got to adjust it in a way that your sit bones are still sort of on the floor
**Speaker 1**
while your heel is still at your premium.
**Speaker 1**
So that's a little bit of a skill.
**Speaker 1**
So, thank you Dr.
**Speaker 1**
I'm going to go into what's happening in the inner way.
**Speaker 1**
So, with one of the legs that's extended, you are actually...
**Speaker 1**
So, if your bracket's kept straight, then you're lengthening the central channel, the whole length of the central channel.
**Speaker 1**
That's a cute model.
**Speaker 2**
You can't tell he's cute with me, I'm so sorry.
**Speaker 1**
The central channel, part of it ends at the tip of your sexual organ, which would be the
**Speaker 1**
tip of the penis for the male or the tip of the clitoris for the female, right?
**Speaker 1**
That's where your central channel ends.
**Speaker 1**
But part of it branches off down to your two veins.
**Speaker 1**
So in extending one of the legs out, you're actually making this huge, long, extended central channel.
**Speaker 1**
The part that connects from the right leg all the way into the channel itself.
**Speaker 1**
As you're stretching, you're feeling something at the back of your leg, your hamstring, that's the gross outer layer of the muscle.
**Speaker 1**
And it's what forms around the channel.
**Speaker 1**
It's what forms around the channel of your leg.
**Speaker 1**
So when you feel a slight stress in your leg, you know that something's also happening to your channel.
**Speaker 1**
It's like you're touching the channel from the outside in.
**Speaker 1**
And you should be stretching to the point where you feel it, but not to the point where there's pain.
**Speaker 1**
Right? There's a balance.
**Speaker 1**
Like in the Yoga Sutra it says,
**Speaker 1**
Prayadnushraetilia.
**Speaker 1**
You know, like a balance between effort and relaxation.
**Speaker 1**
And that's kind of what it means.
**Speaker 1**
Like you shouldn't be wringing your teeth going down into your asana
**Speaker 1**
because that will actually tag you more.
**Speaker 1**
Right?
**Speaker 1**
So the point is to loosen everything.
**Speaker 1**
The point is to expand the central channel out even down to the leg.
**Speaker 1**
The point is to stretch it out further.
**Speaker 1**
So you have a slight stretch and the muscular stretch triggered a movement of that wind within that channel.
**Speaker 1**
So if you're feeling a slight stretch, then the movement started to happen.
**Speaker 1**
and you start to feel, you'll know a difference between a muscular stretch and the inner,
**Speaker 1**
the feeling of the inner wind, because you'll start to feel some kind of a cycle, you know,
**Speaker 1**
that goes beyond the hamstring into like the upper back or something, you know, and you'll
**Speaker 1**
feel a flow, you'll feel something start to flow, like if you're down here, you'll start
**Speaker 1**
to feel like a loop of trauma happening inside of you.
**Speaker 1**
The heel pressed against the perineum triggers the Muladhara Chakra at the very base of Kundalini, where she rests, coiled in her dormant state.
**Speaker 1**
This shoots up prana from the Muladhara chakra up the central down.
**Speaker 1**
And this is a really powerful practice for transforming sexual energy into something higher.
**Speaker 1**
You know, like it's recommended for instance for people who are, they have stelzacy balance,
**Speaker 1**
like some people in this room right now, if you have an excess of like lower special desire
**Speaker 1**
and you want to get rid of it or you want to transform that energy because that can be used.
**Speaker 1**
If you have a very strong libido, that's great.
**Speaker 1**
Great for spiritual practice.
**Speaker 1**
Just put it somewhere else.
**Speaker 1**
Take your libido and put it in the premium and shoot that libido up to the top of your sexual channel.
**Speaker 1**
And then something interesting will happen.
**Speaker 1**
You will have that same effort that you normally put towards sexual liaisons happening in your spiritual practice.
**Speaker 1**
It'll be so exciting, you know, you'll be like, I want to meditate.
**Speaker 1**
I want to do asana so fast, you know.
**Speaker 1**
Like, you'll have so much energy for it.
**Speaker 1**
And that's what it's for, you know.
**Speaker 1**
It's like, when I say transform that energy higher, it's nothing mystical.
**Speaker 1**
It's like, just this incredible desire to do your practice, you know.
**Speaker 1**
And that's what happens when you press on the muladhara chakra
**Speaker 1**
and then it comes up to the higher level of your body.
**Speaker 1**
So when we do one leg at a time, instead of doing something with both legs like when we're in Pashto Moda Natsana,
**Speaker 1**
we're stretching both legs out at the same time.
**Speaker 1**
It's allowing the side channels to open out more fully than they normally would.
**Speaker 1**
It's kind of like when you sleep on your side.
**Speaker 1**
Like if you're sleeping on your left hand side, your right hand channel is going to be wide open.
**Speaker 1**
It lets the right hand channel open.
**Speaker 1**
When you sleep on your right hand side, it lets the left hand channel open very widely.
**Speaker 1**
And that's one of the reasons why, you know, in certain scriptures you're supposed to sleep on a certain side of your body because they want your mind in a certain state when you're in your unconscious state.
**Speaker 1**
You know, it's safer to keep your mind in a certain state.
**Speaker 1**
Like, if you're a monk and you want to keep your vows and you don't want a certain channel that causes sexual energy to rise open, you sleep on this other side so you can inhibit it.
**Speaker 1**
You know, so you're opening, this would be opening your whole right-hand channel.
**Speaker 1**
Now, why would we want to open a mistaken channel?
**Speaker 1**
Now, this is a misconception.
**Speaker 1**
You know, we said that the right-hand channel had all the anger in it,
**Speaker 1**
and the left-hand channel had all our self-discipline in it, and all of our...
**Speaker 1**
Right.
**Speaker 1**
So why are we trying to open them if they're bad?
**Speaker 1**
To tell you the truth, it's the block inside those channels that cause most of the problems.
**Speaker 1**
Like the wind is running in there.
**Speaker 1**
If it was running really smoothly, you wouldn't have a lot of anger.
**Speaker 1**
But if it's tangled and blocked up, if your right-hand channel is blocked, then you have a lot of anger.
**Speaker 1**
So opening that channel is actually very desired because if the winds are unimpeded and flowing through very smoothly,
**Speaker 1**
then you're not going to get a lot of those mental push-ups.
**Speaker 1**
And you're getting closer to the center.
**Speaker 1**
If you have two very, very open-sized channels, you're almost at the point where your state can enter into the center channel.
**Speaker 1**
That's actually a very beautiful state to be.
**Speaker 1**
If you open, very very open, smooth side channels, you're happy all the time.
**Speaker 1**
You know most, the channels are very easily damaged.
**Speaker 1**
They're very sensitive, they're very easily damaged.
**Speaker 1**
We'll talk about that a little bit later.
**Speaker 1**
But, they're great for the channels, they're not for the channels.
**Speaker 1**
There are some places where they are not really connected.
**Speaker 1**
It's like three different things that could be wrong with your channel.
**Speaker 1**
Part of the reason for the yoga asana is actually mending that.
**Speaker 1**
You can actually mend the tears in your toes by coursing a smooth level of prana throughout your asana practice.
**Speaker 1**
Using your body and your breath and your mental focus to do so.
**Speaker 1**
and it revives your inner body.
**Speaker 1**
So then we have the practice of the retention.
**Speaker 1**
And in our living, we do an exhale retention on this post.
**Speaker 1**
So you would raise your hands up.
**Speaker 1**
Take a deep breath in.
**Speaker 1**
Yeah, yeah, with your nose.
**Speaker 1**
The only problem with this model is he's very sarcastic.
**Speaker 1**
Hansel never says that to me.
**Speaker 1**
Okay, then at the end zone.
**Speaker 1**
and then you grab your toes
**Speaker 1**
and this is how we do this
**Speaker 1**
then you inhale again
**Speaker 1**
so that you can straighten your back
**Speaker 1**
and then on a slow exhale
**Speaker 1**
you slowly drop your chin and take the throw up
**Speaker 1**
and then you exhale everything out of your body
**Speaker 1**
you can either do this practice where you are doing very very very slow exhale and inhale
**Speaker 1**
or you can do this practice where you actually exhale all the air out of your body and then
**Speaker 1**
you just hold it for as long as comfortable for you.
**Speaker 1**
Whether you're doing the very, very slow inhale or exhale or whether you're doing the retention,
**Speaker 1**
They both work in a similar way.
**Speaker 1**
Retention is a little bit stronger and therefore you have to be a little bit more careful when you do retentions.
**Speaker 1**
But exhale retentions are generally safer than inhale retentions.
**Speaker 1**
You're not going to get a lot of strange prong going in weird directions if you exhale all the air out.
**Speaker 1**
So you exhale out and then you take a retention and it does two different things.
**Speaker 1**
The first thing is it automatically stops all your gross, constructive kind of thoughts.
**Speaker 1**
The breath being connected to the prana and the prana being connected to the thoughts.
**Speaker 1**
So you take a retention and automatically your mind goes "wum" and it draws in.
**Speaker 1**
and it's so conducive to the stillness.
**Speaker 1**
And it's just like instead of working so hard in your kitchen every single day in meditation,
**Speaker 1**
you just, you know, hold your breath.
**Speaker 1**
And you get to this really deep place.
**Speaker 1**
The only problem is you can only hold your breath for a couple seconds comfortably, you know.
**Speaker 1**
So eventually you want to get to that same place of stillness
**Speaker 1**
without having to hold your breath.
**Speaker 1**
But for the Aspen practice, you know, it's wonderful if you've never tasted
**Speaker 1**
what it's like to have a mind that's really focused, to try and do that for a couple seconds
**Speaker 1**
and get your mind into that space of totally undistracted thoughts.
**Speaker 1**
It's really good for you.
**Speaker 1**
It's really powerful.
**Speaker 1**
Then the second thing that the retention will do is, in addition to stopping all your distracted thoughts,
**Speaker 1**
it also slows down the coursing of the wind in the channels that make you misperceive the world.
**Speaker 1**
So, you're slowing down your propensity for misperceiving the world.
**Speaker 1**
And in that sense, you're honing yourself for seeing entity.
**Speaker 1**
For understanding entity.
**Speaker 1**
So, yes, when you retain your breath you can understand emptiness better.
**Speaker 1**
You can only do it for a very short time before you have to take another breath.
**Speaker 1**
Right? But if you can get your mind there for even a second, it's a very valuable and powerful thing.
**Speaker 1**
If you can go to a deeper level of emptiness understanding than you've ever been able to do
**Speaker 1**
while in an asana pose, that's the purpose of these poses.
**Speaker 1**
And then we're going to talk about the mental focus probably tomorrow
**Speaker 1**
because we're running a little bit behind today,
**Speaker 1**
which is actually, I think it's kind of the blessing that you say
**Speaker 1**
that my favorite part of the entire TV course for tomorrow.
**Speaker 1**
But, yeah, we'll talk about the mental aspect.
**Speaker 1**
It's not a mudra, a complete mudra, until you have added the mental aspect as well.
**Speaker 1**
So you've got the physical part, you've got the breath part, and then you need one more component to make it a mudra.
**Speaker 1**
Oh, sorry, one more thing.
**Speaker 1**
The throat block calendar agenda.
**Speaker 1**
This acts to, you're pressing on the hernia with your heel and then you're pushing down your throat here.
**Speaker 1**
you are basically taking the downward wind and moving it up, then you're taking the upward moving wind and moving it down.
**Speaker 1**
And those two combine raises the inner fire in your body.
**Speaker 1**
It's like they hit each other as they're meeting, right?
**Speaker 1**
The downward wind going up and the upward wind coming down and they intertwine and they cause the energy to rise within their body.
**Speaker 1**
So it's perfect for
**Speaker 1**
inspiring through the community.
**Speaker 2**
I'm going to sneak in something from verse 13 and then tomorrow we'll go back to that later.
**Speaker 2**
I might say "shanay, shanay"
**Speaker 2**
It means "kane, kane, kane, kane, kane"
**Speaker 2**
It means "chill out"
**Speaker 2**
It means "slow, slow, take it easy"
**Speaker 2**
You should know, sorry, "take it easy"
**Speaker 2**
You should sometimes just say to yourself, like, "Oh, I need it, shanai, shanai."
**Speaker 2**
You know, take it easy on those ways, take it easy.
**Speaker 2**
And it's very profound in this world.
**Speaker 2**
They are saying how you should let the breath out, or in this case, in, when you're done with the meditation.
**Speaker 2**
So I'll give an example. I had a yoga teacher who was trying to teach me retention, you know,
**Speaker 2**
and they were like, "Okay, first you go."
**Speaker 2**
And they go, "You're off!"
**Speaker 2**
And then they just had to leave it in a lung cart.
**Speaker 2**
It's like a lung cart for like two minutes in your hall, you know?
**Speaker 2**
And then if you can do that instead of for a few minutes and a half seconds.
**Speaker 2**
You know, it's like that.
**Speaker 2**
And all it did with me was to make me raise the vātta.
**Speaker 2**
It makes you very nervous, it makes you agitated, it makes you uptight, it makes you upset, it's agitated.
**Speaker 2**
It makes you agitated sometimes.
**Speaker 2**
It's not a retention.
**Speaker 2**
That's not retention.
**Speaker 2**
Okay, very long.
**Speaker 2**
And I'm sorry they told you because if you raise the body to a certain level, it will take you months to get it back.
**Speaker 2**
If you raise too much weight in the body, through doing your osmosis tight or competitively, that's also tight.
**Speaker 2**
or you know everything is tight and everything is muscle and everything is elbow-fleshed part of it
**Speaker 2**
and everything is the other people in this room, you know, then got that way.
**Speaker 2**
And actually, did the opposites have the effect of making your an aggressive person and an unpleasant person?
**Speaker 2**
And we want the opposites, right?
**Speaker 2**
So, part of the attention, which in this case is an exhale,
**Speaker 2**
What you want to get to is your breath flows, flows, flows, flows.
**Speaker 2**
Suddenly you take that last exhale and you grab your foot and you don't need to do any work.
**Speaker 2**
You're not holding anything. Right? There's no sensation of holding anything.
**Speaker 2**
You just exhale.
**Speaker 2**
You just exhale.
**Speaker 2**
And you just exhale.
**Speaker 2**
And you don't want to go anywhere.
**Speaker 2**
You see? It's not like you're underwater.
**Speaker 2**
You're just going to see how many masks you can do without coming out of your air.
**Speaker 2**
You know? It's not like that.
**Speaker 2**
It's like it's very unpleasant.
**Speaker 2**
It's like you're with someone that you really love and they just give you a big hug and the sky is blue and the shade that you have fun and you're just...
**Speaker 2**
*sigh*
**Speaker 2**
And then you just feel free. Okay?
**Speaker 2**
So that's the goal. It should be very happy, very natural, very relaxed.
**Speaker 2**
When the breath, when the mind is calm and contented, because the mind rides on the prana,
**Speaker 2**
and because the prana is connected to the breath, what happens to the breath?
**Speaker 2**
You're contented, your mind is contented, your mind is happy, you realize it.
**Speaker 2**
And then the thoughts aren't moving anymore.
**Speaker 2**
And then the heart of the heart stops moving.
**Speaker 2**
And then the breath has to move.
**Speaker 2**
And there's no conscious effort.
**Speaker 2**
It's Kevala Kumaka.
**Speaker 2**
It's Kevala Kumaka.
**Speaker 2**
So how do you get to that?
**Speaker 2**
You can't have your mind busy for 23 hours and 48 minutes a day
**Speaker 2**
and if you must be prophetic, thank you to God, it's not going to happen. It won't happen.
**Speaker 2**
Your enemies are possessions. The more possessions you have in your house, the more mess you have to, the more your mind will be, you kind of will be running around.
**Speaker 2**
Your enemy is talented. Your enemy is illegal. Your enemy is the news.
**Speaker 2**
If you have a newspaper in your house and if you look at it, you won't be able to do a "Kerba La Kam Bakat"
**Speaker 2**
I promise you. It cannot happen. It will not happen. It's very weird.
**Speaker 2**
I was brought up to the Kerba on a kind of events, right?
**Speaker 2**
But maybe you can catch up later.
**Speaker 2**
How should you not get a bed account for?
**Speaker 2**
You know, TTEs.
**Speaker 2**
No unnecessary possessions.
**Speaker 2**
You know, anything you haven't used for six months, John.
**Speaker 2**
That's the rule.
**Speaker 2**
Nothing's money you can get with.
**Speaker 2**
Alright, but, just,
**Speaker 2**
things you haven't used for six months,
**Speaker 2**
get rid of them.
**Speaker 2**
All of them require mind state,
**Speaker 2**
like a heartbeat.
**Speaker 2**
And your mind has a memory.
**Speaker 2**
So every time you have another pair of shoes,
**Speaker 2**
how many of you have a shoe you have?
**Speaker 2**
You remember. So you remember. You look at your closet. Your mind went to your closet. Your mind was looking at the floor. "Oh, where's the other house to that?"
**Speaker 2**
And all of this is thrown in your mind and it disturbs your mind.
**Speaker 2**
So, true possession, email is deadly.
**Speaker 2**
In just a web is deadly.
**Speaker 2**
Certainly the web is way out there.
**Speaker 2**
It's hopeless.
**Speaker 2**
If you're a web professor, forget it.
**Speaker 2**
You cannot stop a breath.
**Speaker 2**
You cannot do that escalation and stop.
**Speaker 2**
It won't happen. It can happen. So maybe don't check your emails so often.
**Speaker 2**
Like, I didn't have an email for you. I didn't miss it. I had nothing else. I'm still here.
**Speaker 2**
And, uh, it exists. I'm nervous about it. In many cases it's just a nervous about it.
**Speaker 2**
You want to check the emails. Checking emails is very much like people.
**Speaker 2**
It's just to learn about it. It's just to have some kind of sin ritual.
**Speaker 2**
It's not that you need to know anything.
**Speaker 2**
So, what I'm saying is that tying the hand for the other twenty-two and a half hours is that when you can even get into body.
**Speaker 2**
It's not a physical body. It's not "Can you touch your soul?"
**Speaker 2**
"Can you calm your mind down to sleep on it?" and then the breath stops by itself.
**Speaker 2**
And you can't do that if you're thinking about things in the same way.
**Speaker 2**
It won't happen. It cannot happen.
**Speaker 2**
So, try to work on the other parts of your mind.
**Speaker 2**
Do your opposite everything.
**Speaker 2**
It's not going to happen if you know your opposite everything either.
**Speaker 2**
So on the physical side, do your opposite everything.
**Speaker 2**
It doesn't have to be two hours.
**Speaker 2**
It's just three hours.
**Speaker 2**
Meaning, you have to do it every day.
**Speaker 2**
Something every day is better than three hours every other day.
**Speaker 2**
And then, cut down their life.
**Speaker 2**
Cut down their life.
**Speaker 2**
There's not so many things you're trying to do.
**Speaker 2**
Not so much news.
**Speaker 2**
Not so much computer time.
**Speaker 2**
We have a rule. We don't do more than a dollar and a half.
**Speaker 2**
We have a rule.
**Speaker 2**
Because it will damage your problems.
**Speaker 2**
It's Jewish, right?
**Speaker 2**
But look at the states that watch the point.
**Speaker 2**
And states are high.
**Speaker 2**
We're not talking about whether you're a nervous person or not.
**Speaker 2**
It will make you nervous.
**Speaker 2**
And you will get old.
**Speaker 2**
And you will have spent 10,000 years of giving you an emergency center.
**Speaker 2**
And you will have lost your time.
**Speaker 2**
But more importantly, there's a higher reality around us all the time.
**Speaker 2**
If you can link interest for even a few minutes, all of those powers we talked about will happen today.
**Speaker 2**
There's a higher reality around us all the time that you cannot see.
**Speaker 2**
If you can link interest for a few minutes, you will have all the awkward powers inside yourself.
**Speaker 2**
You cannot do that if the mind is free. You cannot link into that higher education. It's not possible. It's physically not possible.
**Speaker 2**
So you'll never know. David and Sharon always say, "Well, Mr. Milkman, the Milkman will have come and you didn't see this."
**Speaker 2**
You'll never know what was there. You'll get old checking your email. And then you won't be healthy enough to do these things.
**Speaker 2**
Because of time when you don't have enough vitality, you get back to it.
**Speaker 2**
But if you have a window of opportunity to see something that could save the world, it could save the world.
**Speaker 2**
We're thinking about it. If you gain gravity, you can save the world.
**Speaker 2**
So watch your breath during the day, and if you're up to hand me, it means you're going to check your email.
**Speaker 2**
Really, if you're going out.
**Speaker 2**
You know, check your breath for the fact that you're in there, and you'll know where to go.
**Speaker 2**
And if it's like that, then do something. Do something.
**Speaker 2**
That's why you need a teacher. That's why you must have a personal teacher.
**Speaker 2**
They will say, "David always ends me. He's got my foot up in some weird thing, one sec."
**Speaker 2**
You know? And he's like, "You're Michael, listen to your dad!"
**Speaker 2**
And I'm like, "You need a teacher."
**Speaker 2**
So many problems don't exist if you have a teacher.
**Speaker 2**
You have a teacher at your side who can tell you, "You've got a thought. We'll be able to demand with her tomorrow."
**Speaker 2**
"Stop, stop, stop. We have a good place. She said, "I'm trying to open it."
**Speaker 2**
And you need a teacher at your side. You need someone to come out here.
**Speaker 2**
child, child, child, child, child.
**Speaker 2**
It all goes down to a teacher.
**Speaker 2**
In the end, there's somebody to tell you what she has.
**Speaker 2**
Somebody to tell you this.
**Speaker 2**
Take me a second.
**Speaker 2**
Sit down.
**Speaker 2**
And you're so, calm down.
**Speaker 2**
You're so compulsive.
**Speaker 2**
You're being a teacher who's actually strong enough to fight you.
**Speaker 2**
And all my teachers have, my own mind.
**Speaker 2**
Thank you.
**Speaker 2**
I mean, right?
**Speaker 2**
We'll do it back.
