Because when I was a student I used to deliver stuff there, because I had a truck driver for many years. **Speaker 2** And so he said, "Well, we're working on nuclear... teach it." **Speaker 2** And I said, "Well, what's that?" And he said, "Well, it's where the reaction would just feed on itself." **Speaker 2** like, it would start the reaction and it would feed on the air. It would just feed on the air itself, you know. **Speaker 2** And so I said, that means if you start that reaction it would just keep going until the atmosphere is gone, right? **Speaker 2** And he said, "Yeah, that's what would happen." **Speaker 2** I'm like, "Well, are you sure you want to start with the atmosphere?" **Speaker 2** And he's like, "The whole of the Earth complex was a huge landing. **Speaker 2** The idea was to hold the reaction inside of the magnetic field. **Speaker 2** Like as electricity went on, but obviously it went on. **Speaker 2** But they held the reaction in these kilns out there. **Speaker 2** Fusion instead of fission. **Speaker 2** So that the thing with fission is what? **Speaker 2** So one teaspoon of water would supply New York's needs to electricity. **Speaker 2** And they stopped it actually. They actually stopped it because it was something they closed it down. **Speaker 2** It's an encompasser. But I was always thinking that this is what samsara is. **Speaker 2** This is the word samsara. **Speaker 2** "Santara, say'santara'." **Speaker 2** When you spell it in no many letters, you have to use an "n" with a "n" with a "n" **Speaker 2** So for decades, Americans have said "tamsara, tamsara, sunsara" **Speaker 2** "Santara" **Speaker 2** I'm going to say "sunsara" **Speaker 2** I'm going to say "sunscript" because of memories. **Speaker 2** But the idea of "santara" is a reaction which flees upon itself. **Speaker 2** So, starting with the flow. If you have it in yoga, what's about Sarita? Asana. What are you doing here with Sarita? **Speaker 2** You like spreading your legs, so it needs to spread. Sarita means to spread, probably it's higher. **Speaker 2** So, in English, a flower or a slaw will come into English as F, and an R will often change that out. **Speaker 2** What's the English word? **Speaker 2** "Sara" **Speaker 2** "Sara" **Speaker 2** "Slo" **Speaker 2** The word "flow" comes from "sara" **Speaker 2** So "sansara" means to just keep flowing **Speaker 2** It's a self-repetuating **Speaker 2** Self-sustaining pattern **Speaker 2** And normally when you see the Wheel of Life **Speaker 2** and you think about satsara **Speaker 2** you think, "Oh, it's this huge thing where **Speaker 2** Or, you know, it's my rebirth from my last death, and then my next rebirth, and Sassara. **Speaker 2** Then people say, I want to get out of Sassara. I'm going to move to Colorado. **Speaker 2** Or, you know, somehow Sassara is always on the east coast. I don't know why. **Speaker 2** You know, I finally decided to get out of Sassara and divorce him my life. **Speaker 2** I need to kill him. You know, I'm going to be Sassara. **Speaker 2** So that's not what Tansara is. **Speaker 2** Tansara is something more, how do you say, sneaky and dangerous. **Speaker 2** And what do you call it? Why a sneaky? **Speaker 2** Like a idiot. Yeah. Like stealthy, a idiot. **Speaker 2** Tansara is like that. Why? **Speaker 2** Tansara is not a thing that happens from life to life. **Speaker 2** It's not expected to sit in a minute like one, one, or another. **Speaker 2** Sansara is something that accumulates from moment to moment, in tiny little circles, tiny little sansaras. **Speaker 2** So stop thinking of sansara as a place, or stop thinking of sansara as something that goes from life to life. **Speaker 2** We are setting off little sansara, mini sansaras every few minutes, and they create the larger sansara. **Speaker 2** I'm thinking random. Like someone said something unkind to you. Unbeasively unkind. **Speaker 2** It's just out of the blue way. It says something unkind. That's a result of something you did in the past. Right? **Speaker 2** And if you left it at that, if you let it go, the circle would close and stop. It would be a korwa. It would be a closed circle. **Speaker 2** You see, the result came to you, you come to most of the karma right here, and the karma died. **Speaker 2** And there's no sense out of there. **Speaker 2** But, people on the tail end of the last circle, which started when you said something and you agreed on the count. **Speaker 2** Then from the tail end where someone said something unfair to you, if you respond with unkindness, if you respond with anger, **Speaker 2** you get off balance or upset, even if you don't say anything, then you have kicked off the new circle. **Speaker 2** You see, then the end of the old circle becomes the beginning of the new circle. **Speaker 2** And you can think of a downward stairway, a spiral spectrum that goes down. **Speaker 2** And that's a society. So if you look at it from the top, it's true that one circle has been completed when they yell at you. **Speaker 2** But because you're yelling back, now he goes inside. He's circling down with us. **Speaker 2** He's a downward cycle, right? So normally sometimes I've done. **Speaker 2** But what I wanted to talk about, what I think is more important to talk about is that you can create upward cycles. **Speaker 2** You can create positive self-scipes. And I think that's a more important skill in a way. **Speaker 2** I think it's kind of weird to go around a lot of times avoid things. **Speaker 2** You know, that I'm going to try not to get angry. **Speaker 2** I'm going to try not to say anything bad. **Speaker 2** I'm going to try not to react. **Speaker 2** Your whole life is sort of joyless. **Speaker 2** It's like trying to explain yourself your whole life. **Speaker 2** You're depressed. **Speaker 2** It's just like always trying not to do something, right? **Speaker 2** And I think what you might think about here, **Speaker 2** What he's talking about is feeding a self-suffering fire of goodness. **Speaker 2** It's an upward cycle. **Speaker 2** He isn't talking about subscirenation in a bad way. **Speaker 2** He's talking about how do you set off an upward cycle that would actually lead you out of debt. **Speaker 2** How does it set off an upward cycle? **Speaker 2** And my personal experience, when I was working in a corporation for 15 years, **Speaker 2** And early on, the owner, he used to scream at me. **Speaker 2** He was saying, "It's 9:10, why aren't you here at 9?" **Speaker 2** And I was like, "I commute for 1/2 hours." **Speaker 2** I can't begin. **Speaker 2** I can't say within half an hour if it's going to be 9:30 or 8:30. **Speaker 2** I can't say it. It's a 2.5 hour trip. **Speaker 2** My suit was rumbled before I got to the office. **Speaker 2** I'd already had 2 hours of sleep in the bus before I got to the office. **Speaker 2** And then I just hit the dog. **Speaker 2** And then, by the way, you come back to an end the last night. **Speaker 2** He's like, yeah, but it works back at night. **Speaker 2** You know, like, you didn't get it. **Speaker 2** You know, I'm like, yeah, the work ends at five. **Speaker 2** No, no, I'm through. **Speaker 2** We used to have these big fights, you know. **Speaker 2** He would, like, try to push me and type me. **Speaker 2** I would just come in and try to tell you the next day. **Speaker 2** And then, yeah, the next day. **Speaker 2** You know. **Speaker 2** And then, finally he figured it out. **Speaker 2** One day he called me into his office and sits it down and he plays the place across the street steps. **Speaker 2** You know, he's like, you know, Michael, he called it at 9.30. **Speaker 2** We've missed half an hour. **Speaker 2** Our milk takes half an hour. **Speaker 2** And I'm like, people need to. **Speaker 2** And I'm like, you're here for the place. **Speaker 2** It's like, that's it. **Speaker 2** And when you're not here, you know, you just can't run. **Speaker 2** And you know, it's so sweet if you hear it. **Speaker 2** You know, you got to hear it. **Speaker 2** And I'm like, "Oh, what's up to date for you?" **Speaker 1** You know? **Speaker 1** And it's just so, uh, positive reinforcement is so much more powerful. **Speaker 2** With everybody, you know, somebody tells you, "Go around your whole day without getting mad at anybody. **Speaker 2** Don't think that talks about anybody." **Speaker 2** And then you're like, "Okay, you know, I'll watch your brain." **Speaker 2** But it's a whole separate thing if you want to create an upward samsara. **Speaker 1** An upward samsara. **Speaker 2** In the other words, when you see things of beauty, when you see things of joy, **Speaker 2** or when you see someone else do something that's inspiring or happy, right? **Speaker 2** That's the tail end of a card. **Speaker 2** That's the back end of a card. **Speaker 2** You did something sweet to someone. **Speaker 2** you said something kind to someone, you were inspiring to someone else. **Speaker 2** Now you're seeing the end of that cycle. **Speaker 2** You know, you're seeing a person who's smiling, or a person who's content, **Speaker 2** or a person who's sensitive or kind to other people in the world. **Speaker 2** You have to jump on that side. **Speaker 2** You have to say, "I made that. I made that." **Speaker 2** See, that's just beating yourself up thing, guilty. My fault. All the bad people in the world are my fault. Iraq is my fault, you know? That's true. **Speaker 2** But, uh, but it's easier to work on other types. It's easier if your boss talks to you how great you are. **Speaker 2** So, when you see something of beauty, then you jump at it and say, "I made that. I did something good. I'm capable of doing it. And I have created this beauty, this thing." **Speaker 2** Oftentimes there's people around you. There's so many inspiring people I can miss with you. That it's not hard to see some beauty somewhere. **Speaker 2** Someone's going to say something on Christ here tonight. **Speaker 2** Someone will push you. **Speaker 2** Someone will say something. **Speaker 2** It will be too hot. **Speaker 2** Don't look at those things. **Speaker 2** When I was in high school, we had this choir, I was in choir for 12 years, **Speaker 2** in the church and the other school. **Speaker 2** And we had this old choir director, his name was Melvin. **Speaker 2** I already told you. **Speaker 1** Melvin Shaw. **Speaker 2** And he made us sing these party party songs. **Speaker 2** We did that, but that's been two years ago. **Speaker 2** But he didn't make us really cool in that song. **Speaker 2** It's probably the legal one. **Speaker 2** One of us said, "But what does the song want me?" **Speaker 2** And it's like, with something bad happens, try to concentrate on something about beauty. **Speaker 2** And there must be something that beauty cares about. **Speaker 2** and then think to yourself, "I created it. I made it up in my heart. I must have been **Speaker 2** joyful. I must have been cheerful. I must have been kind to someone. And I would like **Speaker 2** to stay that way. I don't want to be a repressed anger washer. I want to be a person who sees **Speaker 2** beauty and joy and the things I would like to sustain this reaction. I would like to **Speaker 2** make a solution of the beauty in my life. And it's a very simple decision. There's beauty **Speaker 2** around you constantly and there's negative people around you constantly. So what do you do? **Speaker 2** You concentrate on the problems, but you can't deny that there's beauty around you constantly. **Speaker 2** And it's just a decision. Do you look at the beauty or do you concentrate on the craft? **Speaker 2** You know? If you look at the beauty and if you appreciate it, the appreciating is a new car. **Speaker 2** The appreciating of beauty is a new car. Then you set off another thing. **Speaker 2** So, good car is so easy to make. You don't even have to tell the person they look nice. **Speaker 2** You just have to think they look nice. **Speaker 2** And you've already set off a new karma. **Speaker 2** See? To see more people. **Speaker 2** So if you notice 50% dark and 50% beauty, **Speaker 2** why not work on the upper cycle? **Speaker 2** Feed the fire with logs, he says. **Speaker 2** And that's what he says. **Speaker 2** You always have this option. **Speaker 2** There's always something beautiful before you run around. **Speaker 2** So make it an upper cycle. **Speaker 2** I don't take on the view. Simply appreciating any view is a high department. **Speaker 2** And it will professionalize yourself. And it's because of habit. **Speaker 2** In the same way that commercialize yourself. **Speaker 2** Alright, alright. **Speaker 3** You know, Professor Michael said that our lives are 50% blind, 50% dark. **Speaker 3** That's actually the definition of what it means to be human. **Speaker 3** Is that we have half the big karma coming to us and half the big karma. **Speaker 3** And if we didn't have the negative karma, we wouldn't have the motivation to get out of six more. **Speaker 3** And, you know, there are beings in other realms who live like Big Love. **Speaker 3** They don't have any initiative to come and study the happy egg and the difficult card. **Speaker 3** You know? **Speaker 3** Their life is fine, but then it ends. **Speaker 3** But you know that your practice is starting to shift when it's no longer 50/50. **Speaker 3** When you can actually look at your life and say, **Speaker 3** "No, I don't have an equal percentage of good and bad, **Speaker 3** and harm is coming my way. It's mostly good." **Speaker 3** It's mostly good to remember. And that's a sign, you know, you're getting out of this human realm. **Speaker 3** You are transforming yourself into a different kind of being. **Speaker 3** And you can tell by what appears around you, by who appears around you. **Speaker 3** So we'll go on to the next verse. It's verse 45. **Speaker 3** Nithyong so ma halah punna **Speaker 3** filled with drops of blue nectar. **Speaker 3** So, well actually it says "King of the Serpents" in the verse, but I'd like the word Nagas. **Speaker 3** Nagas are actually, they're a little bit more than serpents, they're spirit beings. **Speaker 3** And, you know, it's really hard to talk about spirit beings to people who've never seen them before **Speaker 3** because you only have the birds and minds of whatever I say to go on. **Speaker 3** You don't have an actual proof that they really exist, but they really exist. **Speaker 3** There's all sorts of other beings besides humans. **Speaker 3** We have the animal realm here. **Speaker 3** We can see the animal realm. **Speaker 3** And then you've got the spirit realm, and normally, **Speaker 3** normal people don't go around experiencing the spirit realm. **Speaker 3** But, you know, some people have experienced certain things, you know, like go to Gladstone, **Speaker 3** which is our old retreat center. **Speaker 3** My people on and off on the floor, like, okay, there's spirit beings, I trust you. **Speaker 3** It was, right? **Speaker 3** Yeah, the people who got Gladstone. **Speaker 3** But not that they're actually very, very sweet spirit beings. **Speaker 3** They are, they live underground, and they live near water. **Speaker 3** Sometimes they can inhabit groves of trees and stuff, and they live in the underground water underneath trees. **Speaker 3** They're attracted to good smells, and they're attracted to wisdom. **Speaker 3** They really like the Dharma. They like Dharma teachings. **Speaker 3** They have Dharma teachings in their Naga realm underneath the earth, and they're not really visible to humans, **Speaker 3** but they can make themselves visible if they want. **Speaker 3** So there's a story about Nagas and Aryanagarsana. **Speaker 3** Aryanagarsana is one of the most famous Buddhists of all time. **Speaker 3** He was the one after Lord Buddha who rejuvenated the Buddhist teachings after Lord Buddha died. **Speaker 3** And he was a realist being, he saw his history. **Speaker 3** And then he proceeded to carry on the teachings and make them last in the world. **Speaker 3** They were starting to degenerate and he kind of picked them up and made them alive in the world again. **Speaker 3** And he's a very important person. **Speaker 3** So he was a really, really, really good Dharma teacher. **Speaker 3** And at one of his Dharma teachings, these two beautiful youths dressed in all this silky and floating, **Speaker 3** he comes to his classes, it was like here, you know, **Speaker 3** he was teaching how to do it for different guys. And like randomly, these two people he **Speaker 3** didn't know, dressed in silk, would come in and sit, and they never said a word, and then **Speaker 3** they would leave, but every time they entered the room, the whole room filled with sandalwood, **Speaker 3** the smell of sandalwood. So he was a little bit suspicious. It's funny because in some **Speaker 3** traditions it said there were two young boys, in some traditions it said they were two young **Speaker 3** girls, but in any case, you know, they were young, and very beautiful, and they smelled **Speaker 3** really good. And at one point Aryana Garsana stopped them and asked them who they were. **Speaker 3** And they confessed that they were actually Naga coming to listen to the teachings in human **Speaker 3** form because they really liked Aryana Garsana's teachings and they were sticking in. So Aryana **Speaker 3** Garsana said, "Well, I'm building a tariff statue and can I have some of that tenaloid **Speaker 3** you're wearing from a Tavara statue, it would be really nice to offer it to the goddess. **Speaker 3** And they said, "Well, you'll have to come to the Naga realm to get that." **Speaker 3** So, Ardegarna, he had some kind of prescience, he had some kind of, because, you know, he **Speaker 3** was a realized being and he had some special powers, so he looked into the future and he **Speaker 3** said, "If I go to the Naga realm, it will be very beneficial for everyone." **Speaker 3** So he decided to go. **Speaker 3** And he let the two youths guide him to this place underground where he met Takshaka, **Speaker 3** King of the Nagas. **Speaker 3** And it's so interesting because it's in all the Tibetan scriptures, Takshaka. **Speaker 3** And then I see it here in the Hathiyop of the Diputite. **Speaker 3** It's so exciting to me to see the correlation once again in the two different scriptures. **Speaker 3** So he met with Takshaka and they came and they gave him all these offerings down in the Nagarum. **Speaker 3** and he taught there. **Speaker 3** He taught Dharma there for a while **Speaker 3** and they didn't want him to go. **Speaker 3** One of the offerings that they gave him **Speaker 3** was the 100,000 verses of the Perfection of Wisdom. **Speaker 3** It's a very, very, very precious book. **Speaker 3** It's one of the highest teachings. **Speaker 3** It's like the highest teaching on internet. **Speaker 3** The Perfection of Wisdom Sutras **Speaker 3** existed in the world in 8,000 verses **Speaker 3** but they didn't exist in the long form of 100,000 verses. **Speaker 3** Well, the Nagas had it. **Speaker 3** The Nagas had like, I don't want to say stolen, **Speaker 3** but they had taken the book down after Lord Goddard, **Speaker 3** Buddhist time, to their Nagar realm, **Speaker 3** and they weren't letting it go, **Speaker 3** but they made the offering to Aryanagarjana, **Speaker 3** and they gave it back, **Speaker 3** and he actually brought back the 100,000 verses from the Nagar realm. **Speaker 3** So that's the story of Aryanagarjana and the king of the Nagas. **Speaker 3** This verse is talking about the power of the poison of a snake, actually. **Speaker 3** If you are bitten by the king of the Nagas, I'm sure you die instantly. **Speaker 3** I don't know if the king of the Nagas is fighting you, though. **Speaker 3** But, you know, we've talked a little bit in this class about Raza's thing, you know, and their power and their ferocity. **Speaker 3** Their venom is very, very strong. **Speaker 3** We were in three-year retreat, and one of the women who was in the three-year retreat, her name used to be Petra. **Speaker 3** Now, if you've got her things, you've got a new name. **Speaker 3** Looks like Chen-Chen-Chi. **Speaker 3** But anyway, the woman formerly known as Petra, she was in her little retreat hut and she went out and she took a piece of wood and she didn't look behind the wood and there was a baby rattlesnake there and he just kind of touched the tip of her pinky with one thing. **Speaker 3** And she was like, well, it's a baby, it's just one thing, maybe I'll be okay. **Speaker 3** Because she didn't want to leave the song. **Speaker 3** You know, if you get bit by a rat snake, you have to go to the hospital, **Speaker 3** and you have to do all this stuff, you know, the anti-venom people are allergic to it, **Speaker 3** so you have to be in the hospital to get it, because if you start not breathing, **Speaker 3** then they can do something about it. **Speaker 3** So there's all this really crucial stuff about rat snake venom. **Speaker 3** So she was thinking, well, maybe I'll just leave it and let it go. **Speaker 3** And she's a rather vague person, so she was thinking, it's not going to affect me. **Speaker 3** Within like a minute, she was feeling the entire poison running through her bloodstream. **Speaker 3** And she was stumbling to the caretakers to take her to the hospital. **Speaker 3** Just a tiny little one thing, not even like the full thing, in her pinky. **Speaker 3** And it was like this, it was instantaneous, like, wow. **Speaker 3** You know, your whole body is filling up with venom. **Speaker 3** So you get this idea of like, well that's just any old baby rattlesnake, what's the king of the nadi going to do for you? **Speaker 3** It's a sense of like a very powerful poison running to your bloodstream in a second. **Speaker 3** Right? In a second. Like just kill you instantaneously. **Speaker 3** So it's saying in this verse that if you practice, your body gets filled with this kind of blue nectar, this kind of soma that we were talking about. **Speaker 3** Your body gets filled with purity. Your body gets filled with nectar of immortality, right? **Speaker 3** And even something as strong as a lacinate vibe would not affect you. **Speaker 3** You could be bitten, you know, a billion times and nothing would happen. **Speaker 3** That's what it's saying, the verse. **Speaker 3** Now, you know, slowly, gradually, you will see that, you know, as you start practicing your yoga regularly, **Speaker 3** And as your inner winds start flowing more smoothly, you know, you will become less susceptible to outside toxins, you know. **Speaker 3** Like, you could be in a room full of people who have terrible calls and not get a call, right. **Speaker 3** You could be on the computer all day long and not get really nervous about it, you know. **Speaker 3** I mean, like there's all these toxins in our waking world as we just go through our day in New York City **Speaker 3** that you would no longer be susceptible to if your body was in a state, a certain state. **Speaker 3** There's a practice of, you know, we were meditating on the tree, Benny, again. **Speaker 3** Now, see, I only did this for a day, right? **Speaker 3** Now we're back to the same place, you know, or below the navel. **Speaker 3** So we're meditating there. **Speaker 3** There's a practice where, you know, you let the fire blade and the substance drift down from the top of your head. **Speaker 3** And then you take the substance and you distribute it throughout all the channels of your entire body. **Speaker 3** It's a secret practice you can learn sometime later. **Speaker 3** But I think the next few verses that we have are referring to that practice, **Speaker 3** where you have an ability to control the inner drops inside of your body so well **Speaker 3** that you can actually distribute them at will throughout your body, **Speaker 3** and then you have kind of a protection around you, you know, **Speaker 3** because you're filled with this pure substance. **Speaker 3** Most of the time, our channels are filled with what they call nima in Tibetan, which is like, I don't know, like dregs. **Speaker 3** It's like inner drops that are rotten or something inside of you. **Speaker 3** And it's all stale in there, and it's blocking the channels. **Speaker 3** Nothing's flowing. **Speaker 3** And it's all sitting there inside of your body. **Speaker 3** It's kind of like your intestines when, you know, when you do a fast for a while, **Speaker 3** it's like, I don't know, you do one of those kriyas where you get all the crap out of your intestines **Speaker 3** and you're like, God, how many years has that been there? **Speaker 3** You know, it's like that throughout your whole body with your inner body too. **Speaker 3** You have these impure elements inside your body. **Speaker 3** So you learn how to purify them with the fire and you burn away the dregs of the elements inside your body. **Speaker 3** and then you fill your body with actual pure energy. **Speaker 3** And then you're untouchable. **Speaker 3** Then nothing can harm you. **Speaker 3** Then your body is starting to already turn into light a little bit. **Speaker 3** And, you know, strange things can happen. **Speaker 3** But it's a gradual process. **Speaker 3** It's a gradual process. **Speaker 3** At the beginning, you'll start to notice that you're just less susceptible to illnesses than other people. **Speaker 3** or less susceptible **Speaker 3** you could be a mental thing **Speaker 3** you're less susceptible to other people's **Speaker 3** negative influences as well **Speaker 3** you're less susceptible to other people's **Speaker 3** moods **Speaker 3** you have this **Speaker 3** psycho-protection **Speaker 3** around you **Speaker 2** We are on to Monday's class. **Speaker 1** Verse 47. **Speaker 2** "Gobhaasana bachsh **Speaker 2** of the highest pedigree because even if they spend all day with cow meat eating and drinking liquor. **Speaker 2** You have to... **Speaker 2** You know, I used to work in the diamond business for many years, and India was one of the main producers of diamonds. **Speaker 2** There's two million dollars in diamonds. Fifteen counties control the diamond business in July. **Speaker 2** And above half a million people are working in the cutting of the diamond business. **Speaker 2** And you know, I used to travel to all the cutting centers and talk with people and try to make deals. **Speaker 2** It's one of the reasons I couldn't be at the Monasque Summit. **Speaker 2** And so it's like good luck that the diamond industry in India was flowering at the time I was trying to study. **Speaker 2** I'm sorry to excuse me to be there. **Speaker 2** And one day I was on a train back from Gujarat State, and I was sitting in Balmadaw, **Speaker 2** there was a small hunting center called Balmadaw in northern Gujarat. **Speaker 2** And I was coming back on a train, and I was thinking about all the business people I had met, **Speaker 2** and suddenly it occurred to me that the caste system was still going 100%. **Speaker 2** You know, like all the Gandhi's, which is a grocery caste, grocery caste, they all have the small companies, you know, and all the Khatari's, which means the treasurer of the Shah, Ibn Raja, they all are the accountants. **Speaker 2** And all the Shah's themselves are, we're here still like running their pearls and stuff. **Speaker 2** The whole thing had to change. **Speaker 2** They had moved into the modern world, but everybody was still doing their caste thing. **Speaker 2** Like all the accounting companies were named Khatari's. **Speaker 2** And all the people who were taking care of the food in the economy were all gunpowder. **Speaker 2** And it moved into the modern world, but the caste system is unchanged. **Speaker 2** Everything still runs by your last name. **Speaker 2** And in India it's in vain for 5,000 years. **Speaker 2** And problems are the highest. **Speaker 2** And you can't imagine what it's like to be a problem. **Speaker 2** Like we were in Barnasas for several years. We kept an apartment for them. **Speaker 2** And friends who are Brahmins still have rules about whether they can touch you, **Speaker 2** whether they can eat from a plate after you've eaten from it, **Speaker 2** whether they can drink from a glass that someone else has drunk from. **Speaker 2** If an untouchable has drunk water from a well, a Brahmin can't drink from that bottle you want. **Speaker 2** I have a friend who was a Brahman who got in a bus accident in a river, and he was being swept down the street and an untouchable swim around and he wouldn't take our feet back. **Speaker 2** And like that, it's still this very strong thing. To be a priest in the past, it should be almost godlike. **Speaker 2** And you don't have contact, and there's very rare instances, almost no instances where you can move up to your society. **Speaker 2** It's not like, you can't imagine that. **Speaker 2** Your last name is a certain last name, you probably never will be half the things you could have. **Speaker 2** That's just the way it is. **Speaker 2** But here, not just what Brahma is saying, a very very radical statement for an Indian of the 16th and 15th century. **Speaker 2** to say, "I don't care if you're a Brahman." **Speaker 2** If you can get to the Acharya, **Speaker 2** if you can get to the direct perception of MTA, **Speaker 2** you change your caste. That's a new caste. That's a higher caste. **Speaker 2** He's like, for a... **Speaker 2** He's probably a Brahman, right? Self-Ramman's probably a problem. **Speaker 2** For a high-nobi caste, for someone in a high caste, **Speaker 2** to say, "Your spiritual realizations take you beyond all kinds." A person who has high **Speaker 2** understanding of emptiness is automatically a different caste. They are beyond all caste. **Speaker 2** They are higher than all caste. It's very, very radical for him to say that. So, I think **Speaker 2** it's important to just point it out in this place. And in Tibet, it was very interesting. **Speaker 2** The monastery allowed someone to break out the castle. There was a castle from the back. There was an arrest-born state to that. **Speaker 2** That was controlled by the castle castle. On the willy, princesses. **Speaker 2** But if you entered the monastery, and if you got a Geshe degree, you suddenly got to know them. **Speaker 2** So when Kenriche got his degree, his father was the official table carter for the 35th century. **Speaker 2** He was a picking pararamagas personal card. **Speaker 2** I'm going to play that, saying if you can see emptiness directly, your past change is complete. **Speaker 2** Does this sound familiar to anyone from Diagon? **Speaker 2** Yeah, in the Chairs of the Cloud, I mean, we just, we spent about three and a half years now, **Speaker 2** on the greatest program of emptiness development, **Speaker 2** we just try to keep this interpretation in the cloud, despite what they're telling us about Diagon. **Speaker 2** This is, he says the same thing in the opening lines of his great book, "I have to move away." **Speaker 2** He says, "If you consider this to work, then you change the past, right?" **Speaker 2** You are now in a totally different area. You are beyond all earthly social degrees or categories of life. **Speaker 2** but suddenly a higher principle. So that's the idea here. If you can master your charity, **Speaker 2** despite dancing, in its different forms, not just the asana, but also in its forms that grow the top. **Speaker 2** Then you become truly a simpler person. Higher. **Speaker 2** One more thing. By the way, the karma is normally going parallel, which means that in many cases, **Speaker 2** a person who is going to have higher spiritual realizations, there may be secondary karma **Speaker 2** that brings them into a birth in a high family. So you see Matsushanagela was a prince, **Speaker 2** Chakabuni Buddha was a prince, Narokha was born into a high family, he was a Brahman family, **Speaker 2** and Yiguma came from a high family. And so normally there's this kind of, I don't know, **Speaker 2** what do you call a leftover kata, that comes to a person who's going out. They might be born into a very wealthy family, **Speaker 2** are a family of high social standing. And then often it's the case that they must choose. **Speaker 2** Do they keep that category or do they go for the higher one? So in a way it's harder **Speaker 2** for those people. Our person is born into modest circumstances. It's not so hard to give **Speaker 2** give up what you have to convey yourself to the spiritual life. But if you're, in one **Speaker 2** way, the ones who have high potential for a senior emptiness, they might be going into **Speaker 2** some kind of world or high circumstances. And then for them to make the choice, for a large **Speaker 2** beauty to walk out of the palace and go to yoga with nothing but a morning crossfire, **Speaker 2** You know, that's harder. It's actually harder. Your karma will make it so much harder for you if you have good karma. **Speaker 2** So I think often times, you think I'm not talking about princes and princesses in World America, right? **Speaker 2** But you are the princes and princesses of this globe. You are the top, you are one in a million people who have enough to be, **Speaker 2** who can go anywhere they want, who can stay in the class for 10 days. **Speaker 2** You know, you are the royalty. **Speaker 2** You have the board of the world, physical world, social world, you are the world. **Speaker 2** You don't think so. **Speaker 2** Again, you are using 80% of the world's resources. **Speaker 2** You are 10% of the world's population. **Speaker 2** So you are faced with the same choice that Buddha was faced with. **Speaker 2** Will you walk out of your assurance and embrace a yogic life? **Speaker 2** And it's harder for people who are born comfortably. **Speaker 2** But the results are also higher if they give up. **Speaker 2** They give up the apparent comfort of life. **Speaker 2** And I don't mean you can't have the next apartment. **Speaker 2** It don't mean you have to go and move on to a tent and have a mountain or a mountain. **Speaker 2** It doesn't mean that. It means... **Speaker 2** Renunciation is a mental step. **Speaker 2** You can have a tent and one sleeping bag and two books and not have renunciation. **Speaker 2** And you can be living in this property and have total renunciation. **Speaker 2** It's a mental step. You have to struggle to give up anything to commit yourself to this path. **Speaker 2** It takes your total concentration, which means you would have to give up your mental attachment to the other side of the life. **Speaker 2** Again, some very wealthy people are very generous and they're not attached. **Speaker 2** And some people who are not wealthy are completely attached. **Speaker 2** So it's not that question, it's the question: **Speaker 2** Can you overcome the comfort of your circumstances and commit yourself to a path before you get too old to do that? **Speaker 2** That's where we are. **Speaker 3** This is your lead question on, you only have a certain kind of bar time. **Speaker 1** You don't. **Speaker 3** You do have the cheese. **Speaker 3** You do have the cheese. **Speaker 3** So, uh, I don't know, we were going... **Speaker 3** So, I'd make permission. **Speaker 3** You know, some time ago, Geshe Michael and I were talking to somebody who had come to us for advice, **Speaker 3** and they were someone, I don't know, that this verse really pertained to, I think. **Speaker 3** They were trying to figure out what to do with their lives, because they, I don't know, **Speaker 3** they'd have this six-figure gallery for their whole adult life, **Speaker 3** and then suddenly it was in question. **Speaker 3** You know, they weren't going to be able to make that much money anymore, **Speaker 3** and so they were coming to us for advice, like, what do I do, you know? **Speaker 3** And I was, you know, I'm always really blessed. **Speaker 3** I'm like, you should work for the Dharma. **Speaker 3** You should throw away everything and come with us. **Speaker 3** That's always my answer. You don't have to ask me. That's always what I'll say. **Speaker 3** I don't weed around the bush. **Speaker 3** But they were like, I have to provide for my family. **Speaker 3** And I was like, well, do you need a six-figure salary to provide for your family? **Speaker 3** I know a lot of people in Duggan Mountain who have a wife and kids, and they're fine. **Speaker 3** And that's the choice, right? **Speaker 3** Like, you're used to a certain standard of living, and so you don't have time to practice **Speaker 3** dharma, you don't have time to do all this stuff, you don't have time to do your yoga **Speaker 3** every day, you don't have time to do your meditation every day because you're worried **Speaker 3** about not being able to be comfortable the way that you've been used to. **Speaker 3** And that's really what it's talking about in the verse. **Speaker 3** Like, are you willing to go down a level or two for your practice? **Speaker 3** Because it comes down to that, you know? **Speaker 3** You can't spend all of your time doing worldly stuff and expect to succeed in spiritual stuff as well. **Speaker 3** In the beginning, it's a choice. **Speaker 3** In the end, it's really interesting because it comes back to you in a different way. **Speaker 3** It comes back to you in a totally different way. **Speaker 3** Like, you make all these sacrifices. **Speaker 3** You're like, I'll live in a tent. **Speaker 3** I won't have a stable job. **Speaker 3** I will follow them on the ground everywhere they go. **Speaker 3** I will do all this stuff. **Speaker 3** And then all of a sudden, stuff starts coming to you. **Speaker 3** opportunities start coming to you. **Speaker 3** You start being able to make **Speaker 3** a fantastic living **Speaker 3** working for YSI for instance. **Speaker 3** I mean it happens like that. **Speaker 3** It happens like that. **Speaker 3** But you have to make it jump first. **Speaker 3** Because karmically **Speaker 3** wouldn't it be **Speaker 3** perfectly apt **Speaker 3** if you committed perfectly **Speaker 3** to a spiritual path **Speaker 3** and then all of a sudden **Speaker 3** your life starts to shift **Speaker 3** and you started to get **Speaker 3** all of this amazing **Speaker 3** worldly stuff back as well. **Speaker 3** And that's really what happens. **Speaker 3** But you have to make the jump first. **Speaker 3** Guess you might think that you're okay. **Speaker 3** And you can continue a little bit more of the class before we take a break. **Speaker 3** Are you okay? Is it true? Are you awake? **Speaker 3** Yes, yes, yes. **Speaker 3** So I'm actually not supposed to talk about that whole thing was just not my subject of **Speaker 3** a dish dish. **Speaker 3** But I just thought really thoroughly about it. **Speaker 3** My part of this verse is the second half of the verse, "even if they spend all day with **Speaker 3** cow meat eating and drinking liquor and nectar." **Speaker 3** So, this is actually just going way, way beyond the, you know, you're in a different case, tax system is wrong. **Speaker 3** Like, I don't know, if anyone hasn't been to India, it's kind of hard to imagine. **Speaker 3** But nobody in India eats meat. **Speaker 3** Like, nobody. **Speaker 3** Everybody is a vegetarian. **Speaker 3** Like, they think that eating meat is really base and really dirty and really disgusting **Speaker 3** and it's like, um, it would be kind of like what we think of cannibalism. **Speaker 3** Like, it's exactly how we perceive cannibalism. **Speaker 3** Like if somebody told you they ate their next door neighbor the other neighbor, **Speaker 3** you would be like... **Speaker 3** And you move away from them a little bit. **Speaker 3** And you start saying things. **Speaker 3** But you're not just like, okay, I'm not going to your house. **Speaker 1** And that's what they feel like. **Speaker 3** You know, you tell them, like, I've eaten meat before. **Speaker 3** And they're like, you know, that's nice. **Speaker 3** That's really nice. **Speaker 3** I know all that stuff about Westerners. **Speaker 3** You're just, you're not that sane. **Speaker 3** You know, you're not that sane. **Speaker 3** You actually take a living being and you slaughter it and you use it for your own personal enjoyment. **Speaker 3** Like you kill for your own personal enjoyment that's just disgusting and low. **Speaker 3** And don't you know what that does to you when you eat another living being? **Speaker 3** Don't you know that it makes your mind really dull and it makes you prone to violent tendencies **Speaker 3** and you start getting angry at people all the time? **Speaker 3** Don't you know that? **Speaker 3** Well, they don't say that. They don't say anything. They just look at you very strangely. **Speaker 3** Right? So, you have to catch in this verse what it means for someone to not only not be a Brahman case, but captive, but to be someone who eats meat. **Speaker 3** Right? And not only meat, they're eating cows. Cows are sacred in India. **Speaker 3** You know, you go to Varanasi and the cows rule the streets. **Speaker 3** You have to scoot over because the cows will run you over. **Speaker 3** Because you are not the boss of the city, they are. **Speaker 3** They've got these little flower gardens around them, and people have painted their horns like blue. **Speaker 3** And they kind of like, yes, I'm supposed to be honored. **Speaker 3** You know, the cows know it. **Speaker 3** They have an attitude. **Speaker 3** Like, they will not move for you. **Speaker 3** If you're in the road and you want to go past, you have to be really, you know, may I pass? **Speaker 3** And that is interesting. It's an interesting culture. **Speaker 3** But they consider the cow a representative of all mothers. **Speaker 3** A representative of all life. **Speaker 3** You know, the one who gives us milk. **Speaker 3** The one who gives us life. **Speaker 3** And so to kill a cow, it's not, it's beyond cannibalism. **Speaker 3** It's like killing a child. **Speaker 3** You know, it's not only based on disgusting, it's actually gone over to a moral for them. **Speaker 3** Like, that's just wrong to kill a cow. **Speaker 3** So, you get the feeling in your heart for, you know, what it means to be someone who eats cow meat. **Speaker 2** All right? **Speaker 3** And then alcohol for them is like a poison. **Speaker 3** It just totally wrecks your mind. It wrecks your ability to think. **Speaker 3** And, you know, Buddhists would say the same thing. **Speaker 3** That they would think of someone who resorts to alcohol like, I don't know. **Speaker 3** When I was living in New York, which is a long, long time ago, and I lived in the East Village, **Speaker 3** there were a bunch of people around Tompkins Square Park. **Speaker 3** And they were like really struck out on crack or something like that. **Speaker 3** And that's how they would think of someone who drank alcohol. **Speaker 3** Would be like the people who used to live in Tompkins for a park on a regular basis before Giuliani cleaned it up. **Speaker 3** So, no, it's true. **Speaker 3** And they just think it's like really, really low-based people who drink alcohol. **Speaker 3** Like really, really low. **Speaker 3** Like people who just didn't, they're desperate and they don't want anything else, right? **Speaker 3** So, here's someone to get the idea. **Speaker 3** Here's a Brahmin priest who keeps very ritual cleanliness, **Speaker 3** who goes every day to the temple, **Speaker 3** who fasts all the time and maintains their spiritual austerity, **Speaker 3** who's very proper to his family and takes care of everything. **Speaker 3** And he's the spiritual leader of the community. **Speaker 3** And here's someone who's eating meat and drinking liquor, even cow meat and drinking liquor, who's above this person. **Speaker 3** How can that be? **Speaker 3** How can that be? **Speaker 3** Right? **Speaker 3** This person that we're talking about, it's like, you know, once you have some kind of emptiness realization, **Speaker 3** once you have some kind of realization of ultimate love or, you know, what are you doing in your heart, **Speaker 3** then you become a person who far outshines every other single human on the planet. **Speaker 3** No matter what you do, no matter what kind of activities you engage in after that, **Speaker 3** it's like you're a different kind of being. **Speaker 3** You have different kind of thoughts going in through your mind. **Speaker 3** You have different kinds of things happening in your inner body, in your channels. **Speaker 3** Your channels are not the same after you have certain spiritual realizations. **Speaker 3** You are like no longer human. **Speaker 3** You're like a special being, a new kind of being in the world. **Speaker 3** And that's what this verse is trying to capture, that this is an extraordinary being, **Speaker 3** like far above every other human on the planet. **Speaker 3** They are not human. **Speaker 3** They are beyond human. **Speaker 3** They have risen above all of this samsara crap. **Speaker 3** And they are just looking at us from below like, let me help you. **Speaker 1** You know? **Speaker 3** So even if they were to engage in something like eating meat or drinking alcohol, it would **Speaker 3** be an entirely different thing. **Speaker 3** It would be an entirely different thing. **Speaker 3** Like yesterday, I don't know, there were some people wondering yesterday, but yesterday we **Speaker 3** were talking about this bowl of Cheerios. **Speaker 3** Do you remember the bowl of Cheerios? **Speaker 3** Yes. **Speaker 3** Yes? **Speaker 3** So we're talking about how it's a neutral thing. It's a totally neutral thing until you imbue it with some kind of power due to what? **Speaker 3** Intention. Due to your intention. Right. So you're imbuing the Cheerio role with some kind of powerful intention. **Speaker 3** I'm going to eat these Cheerios for the sake of every single human being so I can give them and let it as quickly as possible. **Speaker 3** to reach a state of total, you know, body, light, mind of total purity, omniscience, **Speaker 3** love, compassion. I'm going to get there by eating these Cheerios. And then all of a sudden **Speaker 3** eating the Cheerios becomes what? It becomes a very powerful good being. It becomes a very, **Speaker 3** very powerful act. And you can do that with anything. Anything that's neutral in your world, **Speaker 3** all of a sudden you can transform it into something positive. Well, what about things **Speaker 3** that are not neutral and not positive but what are negative in this world? **Speaker 3** Something like alcohol or meat. **Speaker 3** Can you transform that too? **Speaker 3** Are they also empty? **Speaker 3** Yes, these things are also empty. **Speaker 3** So with a proper kind of intention, you can actually take a piece of cow meat and eat it **Speaker 3** so that there will not be any violence or any killing in this world ever again. **Speaker 3** And it has to do with emptiness. **Speaker 3** And it has to do with learning the powers of transforming things. **Speaker 3** And there's actually a ritual in the secret teachings where you do this. **Speaker 3** Just because it's such a powerful thing to take something that constantly, you know, **Speaker 3** your mind is thinking that's a negative thing from his own side. **Speaker 3** And then to reverse it for one instant, to reverse it for one instant is so powerful and so strong. **Speaker 3** Like a yogi who has reached a certain spiritual level could take a whole bottle of beer and transform it, **Speaker 3** drink the whole thing and not heal anything. **Speaker 3** Because it's totally a different substance to them. **Speaker 3** It's not alcohol as they want. **Speaker 3** They've transformed it into something else. **Speaker 3** They've transformed it into nectar. **Speaker 3** So that's another implication of this verse, **Speaker 3** is that, you know, this person, who is Silky Numbaa, **Speaker 3** who is like far outshining every other living being on the planet, **Speaker 3** can do stuff like this. **Speaker 3** They can do stuff like even eating meat or drinking alcohol, **Speaker 3** which is like the worst thing you could ever do, right, in India. **Speaker 3** And you wouldn't touch them. **Speaker 3** You wouldn't touch them because they know how to transform it. **Speaker 2** I once had this discussion when I first went to study with Tibetans in India. **Speaker 2** I was about 20. **Speaker 2** And one of the Tibetan monks, he asked me, **Speaker 2** did you explain to me about Christianity? **Speaker 2** Because I've heard about it, but I don't know what they do. **Speaker 2** And I went off on this wrong thing in my first year to that, you know, I was like, "Well, you know, the leader of the group, he died, he was killed, and then on Sundays people meeting the church, they eat his body and drink his drink." **Speaker 2** I mean, it bumps the eye and it's like that. **Speaker 1** And he is very sharp. **Speaker 2** And then I realized what it sounds like to a person who had never heard of it. **Speaker 2** And in a church you do transfiguration. **Speaker 2** Transfiguration. **Speaker 2** You change the substance. **Speaker 2** Make it, take it, take it, eat, this is my body, this is my blood, which is even for you. **Speaker 2** And so really in a Christian church you do the same thing. You are eating the actual flesh of that person. **Speaker 2** When the priest finishes the transubstantiation, the wafer is no longer weak, it's flesh of a human being. **Speaker 2** And the wine is the blood of it. **Speaker 2** And a good Christian is supposed to understand that, and then eat it, you know, and take it. **Speaker 2** And it's obviously not in any way, do they have any thought in their mind that they are eating a person. **Speaker 2** Or do they have any thought that they are getting drunk? **Speaker 2** They don't see that. When you see a chalice, a silver chalice, and the grease hands it to you over the altar rail, and they say, take a sip, you don't have at all this perception of it, like, what's that cheap wine? **Speaker 2** Thunderbird. **Speaker 1** Thunderbird. Yeah, I'd like somebody to pay you a bottle of Thunderbird wine, you know. **Speaker 2** You don't have that even that part of the thing that's blind, right? **Speaker 2** And you shouldn't, because it's not. Because they chance of dancing. **Speaker 2** Okay? So it's the same, they're talking about the same process for a high yoga. **Speaker 2** And when the liquid touches their lips, it's no longer, it's no longer out of harm. **Speaker 2** It's not a question, are they drinking alcohol? No. **Speaker 2** Are they drinking alcohol which is transformed? No. **Speaker 2** They're drinking the blood of Christ. You know? **Speaker 2** It's not a question anymore, is it alcohol or was it alcohol? No, it's not. **Speaker 2** No question. **Speaker 2** Well, of course, if I take one drop, I will not die. **Speaker 2** So I think you have to imagine, that's what he's really talking about. **Speaker 2** It's talking about Baba Marta. It's talking about the mass as it was done in India. **Speaker 2** It's a gospel, which is not the case. **Speaker 2** In the Hebrew tradition, in a different tradition but the same meaning. **Speaker 2** Same idea of trans... **Speaker 2** Trans- **Speaker 2** Alright. **Speaker 2** So this is my last pitch today. **Speaker 2** We were saying, if you're new or you haven't been here, our attempt, and there's some people that weren't here the first night, but I wanted to say one more time, why are we at Naxal Ryoda? Why are we at a mind-body spa on Southam Seppal Park? **Speaker 2** You know, we're just too small for all the people who are really lacking help. **Speaker 2** Why aren't we down in a more comfortable space like Duhumupti where it was nice and we had 200 people in there just shut up? **Speaker 2** You know, why are we doing this? **Speaker 2** And I wanted to repeat, we met some of the management of Excel. **Speaker 2** We took a class from Zenon, Venice. **Speaker 2** Some investors, I don't know who they are, they might be connected to the United States, I don't remember, but they had decided they would buy all these yoga students, like Shiba Raze did, which we went to see and it already got bought out. Instead they wanted to sell us a massage. **Speaker 2** You know, we wanted to do Shiba Rae's killer class, and all they wanted to do was do it **Speaker 2** and it's not a $50, you know, and so this group has bought out major yoga studios across **Speaker 2** the United States, and they're tempted to do a change. **Speaker 2** We were thinking it would be really cool if we could sneak in the spiritual part, and **Speaker 2** and get into the franchise. So to get into 1XL, to do a nice job at 1XL spa, and then try to get our teachers into all of the SL spas. **Speaker 2** It would be good for them, it would be good for our teachers. So that's the motivation, which leaves me to say. **Speaker 2** Our motivation for this class, for sitting here at all, is that we want you to teach. **Speaker 2** The whole idea, this is not one of those teacher chains that are supposed to keep the yoga studio for collapsing financially. **Speaker 2** We were out with adults. As we were sitting to the class, they kept borrowing the price of the teacher chain. **Speaker 2** to try and get more people, you know? We just, we just started $50, you know, and we're like, **Speaker 2** they need the teacher training money, you know, it's like that. It's not like that. **Speaker 2** We really want you to become a teacher. We really want you to teach. **Speaker 2** A is the most helpful thing we can do for other people. To redeem these things to other people. **Speaker 2** It's the kindest thing you can do. Secondly, the best karma you can collect with you is to be a teacher. **Speaker 2** There's nothing like it. **Speaker 2** Teachers are like pigs in karma. **Speaker 2** You think they're working or something? It's not like that. **Speaker 2** They're getting all this intense karma, intense karma by teaching. **Speaker 2** So if you can get into any kind of teaching, holy things, **Speaker 2** you're just collecting teaching amounts of karma. **Speaker 2** And it's fun. **Speaker 2** It's fun to be in a picture of a black jaw so everybody else is hot and I'm on the floor and sweating. **Speaker 2** I know, I was in the monster 20 years I thought, 120 degrees in South India, you know, in these crosses on the floor. **Speaker 2** You know, sweating. And I said, "I'm going to do that for another job." **Speaker 2** So, it's fun. And obviously I think it's smell. It's the most meaningful thing you can do with your life. It gives your life a meaning. The minute you start to become the next vessel, to pour into the next generation, suddenly your life takes immense meaning. **Speaker 2** Like, if you sit around here in the day and you wonder what you've been doing in your life, **Speaker 2** or who are you, or what happened for the last 20 years, or, you know, **Speaker 2** "I didn't do what I was supposed to be doing." **Speaker 2** Just teach. Anything. Anywhere. Teach something. **Speaker 2** A benefit. It's something you're right. The reason to be here has beauty. **Speaker 2** The reason to have been born has immense meaning in the end. **Speaker 2** There's no more satisfying life than to be a teacher. **Speaker 2** You don't have to be a full-time teacher, you can be a part-time teacher. **Speaker 2** We all started out doing it part-time, because you can't do it full-time. **Speaker 2** The first time you teach, two people will talk. **Speaker 2** I can tell you. **Speaker 2** I set up a bed in hell. I set up my bed. **Speaker 2** One post-bed came. **Speaker 2** You know, and two other guys. **Speaker 1** And I started off on some background. **Speaker 2** One guy left. **Speaker 2** And then the other guy started arguing with me. **Speaker 2** And then the girl guy's thing, you know? **Speaker 2** And it's always going to be like that. **Speaker 2** You don't have to go on. **Speaker 2** But this is our plan here, okay? **Speaker 2** You get changed. **Speaker 2** You come and you get changed. **Speaker 2** And you just got changed. **Speaker 2** Like, why is that all changed? **Speaker 2** And you'll have something to do. **Speaker 2** I need a, there's a music bar coming around. **Speaker 2** Uh, we'll take care of getting changed. **Speaker 2** So you have something to teach. **Speaker 2** Uh, and there's so many. **Speaker 2** I heard there's a number now, there's more yoga studios at Oklahoma than McDonald's. **Speaker 2** So it's big, and it's not being small. 59 Americans are doing yoga. **Speaker 2** So if we can give you a meaningful training that you can go and make their yoga spiritual, **Speaker 2** then this is perfect for everybody. **Speaker 2** You have something to teach and you have something to help people. **Speaker 2** So our dream with these courses is to teach you something to teach. **Speaker 2** And hopefully you've taken it seriously in your course. **Speaker 2** Then, we're going to try to get you big. **Speaker 2** So we're also interested in helping you actually start to teach. **Speaker 2** So some people in this room, they're very talented, they have a big talent, they could be a great teacher, but they're too shy, or they feel like I don't want to promote myself, or something like that. **Speaker 2** So we're all going to promote. **Speaker 2** And today we have all these posters put up around the room. **Speaker 2** And you'll recognize people in the room, right? **Speaker 2** I mean, you see Ronald Morgan over there, Duarez over there, Mirashan is over there, James and Patel over there. **Speaker 2** I like this one. It's a real duck and flying. **Speaker 2** Like meditation, right? And he's just poking the car chasing, gotta go. **Speaker 2** I mean, some of us, uh, **Speaker 2** say this about two minutes later. **Speaker 2** And a lot of people get the point is that I think five years ago, **Speaker 2** none of these people were teaching. **Speaker 2** These people were all sitting like you're in this room, **Speaker 2** thinking, I don't know, I don't think I can do that. **Speaker 2** You know, I don't think I can do what I do. **Speaker 2** But you can. **Speaker 2** Anybody can. **Speaker 2** You just get the training. **Speaker 2** You have an internal style. **Speaker 2** You have readings, you have homeworks. **Speaker 2** You don't have to make up anything. **Speaker 2** You can just do the homework. **Speaker 2** I can feel we can play it that way. **Speaker 2** We want it that way. **Speaker 2** And we want, **Speaker 2** Wiestime wants you to be a teacher. **Speaker 2** We want to help you get okay. **Speaker 2** And we even have a staff that makes posters for you. **Speaker 2** No, really. **Speaker 2** So here, I don't know who's here. **Speaker 2** Rosa? **Speaker 2** Rosa? **Speaker 2** Yeah. **Speaker 2** Yeah, uh, is her name? **Speaker 2** If you can just speak to her, you should name your poster. **Speaker 2** And then how does the student post his resume? **Speaker 2** He's still making posters. **Speaker 2** Rob West, who's with her? **Speaker 1** Rob West, who's with Chris Kissinger? **Speaker 1** She's a good person. **Speaker 2** Yeah. Well, they did all these posters. We've got to have like a competition for them. **Speaker 2** Oh, really? **Speaker 2** Face your hand. **Speaker 2** She like did all the artwork for our grandma for 20 years. **Speaker 2** She's doing that. She's really good. **Speaker 2** She does it for like, basically. **Speaker 1** They have no idea of your reason. **Speaker 2** Well, like they all make posters for free. They just come, you go to them and say, "I want to teach you that." **Speaker 2** I have an idea. So you have to go home, you have three days, right? **Speaker 2** You go home and think, "What kind of class can I teach?" **Speaker 2** "What do we have to be this?" **Speaker 2** It can be anything that's meaningful. **Speaker 2** You can adapt this, you can swipe it, you can change it. **Speaker 2** We want you to be a teacher. **Speaker 2** We want you to go home and dream about being a teacher. **Speaker 2** We'll design your process. We have a three girls. **Speaker 2** This is Nancy. **Speaker 2** Nancy's over there. It's okay. **Speaker 2** She like dies. She has a new kid. **Speaker 2** She's like, I don't know how old she is, but she's just a doctor who came. **Speaker 2** And she's got a new life. **Speaker 2** She's got a whole business that she runs. **Speaker 2** She runs multiple businesses. **Speaker 2** So, like, she's like crazy running the future. **Speaker 2** She's like managing the future. **Speaker 2** And it's a nice space. **Speaker 2** It's a small space. **Speaker 2** On 4th and 7th and 7th. **Speaker 2** 9th and 7th. **Speaker 2** Here you go. **Speaker 2** But the cool thing is, it's a nice, what's called it? **Speaker 2** scary space to stop your first class. Like they all let you in, you talk to her and say, **Speaker 2** "You know, we should like to start just a class." "Yeah, yeah, what do you want to come?" **Speaker 2** And then you make up your own class and you decide how to do it. And you're very welcome **Speaker 2** to the business space. Then you tell the students at the end, "Please give us a population to **Speaker 2** I don't think she really cares. **Speaker 2** Um... **Speaker 2** I mean... **Speaker 1** I mean, **Speaker 2** in the middle of New York City, **Speaker 2** that's meant for you to have your room. **Speaker 2** But, start out small. **Speaker 2** Really, I started on the bed. **Speaker 2** With the pulse pen. **Speaker 1** I started in the middle of the room. **Speaker 2** It's a little white room, **Speaker 2** and my name is Mark Shaley. **Speaker 2** And, uh, **Speaker 1** and we had a car. **Speaker 2** I can only start, I can go second class and a doctor before second. **Speaker 2** It was hard to how I would turn around and teach my mother. **Speaker 2** No, there was three more equipment. **Speaker 2** Why didn't you? **Speaker 2** No, you're going to take a touch on that. **Speaker 2** Because it starts like that. **Speaker 2** You'll get 150 people in the first night. **Speaker 2** That's like 20 years later. **Speaker 2** So, we want you to become a Christian. **Speaker 2** We want to see you on one of these posts. **Speaker 2** But why? **Speaker 2** Just try to see you because you've got three good students here on Thursday. **Speaker 2** And we can do it. Anybody can do it. **Speaker 2** We want you to do it. **Speaker 2** "Shh." **Speaker 2** See, it's like jumping off the wall. **Speaker 2** And so, uh, **Speaker 2** for the score of you, **Speaker 2** there's no better life than you to help. **Speaker 2** There's no better karma than you to teach. **Speaker 2** So, we really try to help you. **Speaker 2** There's also people here who just get gifts from people like **Speaker 2** small schools. **Speaker 2** You can tell it. **Speaker 2** Like, she is in charge. **Speaker 2** Our students in Denmark, **Speaker 2** we have 150 states teaching. **Speaker 2** And she says, "Where do you want to teach?" **Speaker 2** We say, "Yes, buddy." **Speaker 2** So, you know Ava, right? **Speaker 2** Ava. **Speaker 2** And he said, "I want to teach in Pittsburgh." **Speaker 2** "Do you know anybody in Pittsburgh?" **Speaker 2** "No." **Speaker 2** "Okay." **Speaker 2** And she got the airfare, she got in there, she got the post-concernility in the world, right? **Speaker 2** And it all happened. **Speaker 2** And it's like that. **Speaker 2** Do you know if you've met some of the students that are in London? **Speaker 2** Even on the tour, on the China tour there will be a secondary classes right now. **Speaker 2** You want to go to China and do a show up? **Speaker 2** You're only going to the other class, I'll go. **Speaker 2** And just do... **Speaker 2** You guys have a picture. **Speaker 2** And GK, if you want to do Star Wars, I'll probably get your friends. **Speaker 2** Okay. **Speaker 1** And, uh... **Speaker 1** Who's the secondary? **Speaker 1** "You know, just need to know **Speaker 2** That's why we're doing the class. That's what we want. **Speaker 2** So think about it. And, and, you should yourself. I think, like, Christine Shaw. **Speaker 2** They just gave their first teaching this week. Got it? **Speaker 2** I heard it was a wildfire, I heard it was a miserable. **Speaker 2** And you know she would stare and he would stare and they're like, "No, no, no, there's no." **Speaker 2** I'm like, "No, no, no, no." **Speaker 2** They went over to be around and done this. **Speaker 2** So we really want to see you teach. **Speaker 2** Last thing. So team teaching is cool. Team teaching is really cool. **Speaker 2** So one person might be stronger in things like yoga, and one person might be stronger in the philosophy. **Speaker 2** If you team up, like that's why we're trying to get people to talk to each other. **Speaker 2** So team up with anybody. It's a lot of fun to teach together. **Speaker 2** For the mother person, it's a lot of fun. **Speaker 2** If you be a couple, you can teach spiritual partners. **Speaker 2** Talk to Jill and Lizette. **Speaker 2** You want to learn to teach spiritual partners. **Speaker 2** It's fun, like you fight all day. **Speaker 2** How you're going to teach. **Speaker 2** And then you get up and you're very calm. **Speaker 2** You talk about how great spiritual partners are. **Speaker 2** You want to learn to teach business? **Speaker 2** Michael Gordon's good, my affair. **Speaker 2** No, they're not me. Wrong home. **Speaker 2** We're teaching people to teach business classes. **Speaker 2** So, spiritual progress, business, yoga, and dharma. **Speaker 2** We're going to get into bowling then. **Speaker 2** I'm going to teach bowling in camera. **Speaker 2** Now I have one more picnic now. **Speaker 2** I'm going to give you the pitch. **Speaker 2** Some people go out and teach their first time. **Speaker 2** By the way, you've got to be at a study. **Speaker 2** You don't let people know you're there. **Speaker 2** You know you're having a class, but you assume everybody else in New York knows you're having a class. **Speaker 2** But it's not the case. **Speaker 2** So you do have to do some, make a poster, go to some healthy stores, go to yoga studios. **Speaker 2** You need to learn to do that. We can help you learn to do that. **Speaker 2** I saw Abigail's poster in the... where's that place I'm trying? **Speaker 2** Bonobo. **Speaker 2** Bonobo? **Speaker 2** Bonobo. Yeah, the hunting place. **Speaker 2** Uh, yeah. **Speaker 2** No, I saw your poster there, and... **Speaker 2** You should do that. You should do that. **Speaker 2** You have to let people know. **Speaker 2** The theory is you don't lock on their door and say, **Speaker 2** "Did you read the Happy Birthday people do that?" **Speaker 2** And then... **Speaker 2** There's a difference between harassing people... **Speaker 2** And letting you guys know that... **Speaker 2** When we went to X-H-L, last year in New York, we went to the X-H-L class on our last day. **Speaker 2** We were leaving for Brazil that afternoon, we took a yoga class in the morning. **Speaker 2** And the owner said, "Oh, are you here for a while?" **Speaker 2** We said, "Well, no, we just finished a TV course." **Speaker 2** "I didn't get right." **Speaker 2** "You know, I really wanted to come." **Speaker 2** So, think about that. **Speaker 2** There's people in New York who would like to come to your class. **Speaker 2** They just don't know you have a good class. **Speaker 2** So it's not pushy or self-promotion to let people know there's a crime. **Speaker 2** If you may not ignore and demand money and ask it to come, that's harassment. **Speaker 2** If you just put the poster up at the wrong time, that's just letting people know that something they want to come to is available. **Speaker 2** Some people go through all the stuff, they learn how to do it really well, they memorize it, they get all ready, they get over there scared, you know. **Speaker 2** Maybe they take some drugs just before the class. **Speaker 2** And they go and they sit down and they sit down and they sit down and they sit down and they sit down and they sit down and nobody comes. **Speaker 2** Which is really discouraging when I first got. Nobody comes. Right? We match up. It's happening. **Speaker 2** We went into a birthday party, Omega that's a kid. All they, I said, this is going to be great, half a million people will come. **Speaker 2** Six people came. And it happens. And sometimes you go like that. **Speaker 2** I mean sometimes you just don't expect them. **Speaker 2** Like, last time we did this public talking, you know what I'm saying? **Speaker 2** You can't even come. **Speaker 2** We're like, "Huh?" **Speaker 2** And I'm like, "Oh, we're in China." **Speaker 2** "Charles are people coming back." **Speaker 2** And we're just like, "Shit?" **Speaker 2** We walked out. **Speaker 2** We have a video. **Speaker 2** Walking onto the stage at the right place, singing hall. **Speaker 2** We have a video of the Christmas days. **Speaker 2** And I'm like, "It's Charlie and everything from there." **Speaker 2** And then she comes out and she looks up and she's like... **Speaker 1** *laughter* **Speaker 1** She's a little bigger. **Speaker 2** She's not prepared. **Speaker 2** Okay, that thing is translated this time of your life. **Speaker 2** I was just pumped up for a coffee and she went out and got it. **Speaker 2** *laughter* **Speaker 2** And then she didn't go out to bed for me. **Speaker 2** But what I want to ask you is a question. **Speaker 2** When you finally get the courage you have to do your best, **Speaker 2** which you must, you must promise us. **Speaker 2** You say "Mahdaw" **Speaker 2** You are the most scared, shy person here in our teaching class. **Speaker 2** I will help you. You do all the work for you. You just have to get there. **Speaker 2** What is it that makes you all in people's life? **Speaker 2** And what is it that makes you all in people's life? **Speaker 2** As a teacher, you might touch as many people as possible. **Speaker 2** Don't be shy about it. **Speaker 2** You won't live unless you do yoga well. Your life is numbered. You make that number. **Speaker 2** You want to touch as many people as you can. You want to work in ways that you touch as many people as possible. **Speaker 2** So what makes the difference? What is it that causes a thousand people to show up? **Speaker 2** What is it about you that's going to make a thousand people show up? **Speaker 2** That's a question we have to ask ourselves. **Speaker 2** Who's going to take care of that part? **Speaker 2** Can Mama Kim reach out? **Speaker 2** Mama Kim's going to talk. **Speaker 3** So people are all worried about, you know, do I have a perfect poster? **Speaker 3** Is it a perfect space? Am I in the right outfit? Do I have all my notes ready for the class? **Speaker 3** What's going to make people like me as a teacher? What's going to make people meet as a teacher? **Speaker 3** It's karma, right? It's all karma. It has to do with helping other people succeed as teachers. **Speaker 3** It's very easy. It's very, very easy. Like, I don't know, I didn't really go through that little in-between period where I had three people in the backseat of a car. I was sort of like shoved into the thousand people around. **Speaker 3** And I think the reason was I was helping Geshehla for so many years. **Speaker 3** And I was helping him to get successful as a teacher. **Speaker 3** And it's a powerful karma to help other people succeed in their teaching practices. **Speaker 3** So people who are helping with punctures, like Rosa, **Speaker 3** And all the people who did know they were helping with phones are you now, **Speaker 3** or a paper day for your seat and Christmas. **Speaker 3** You know, that's wonderful. **Speaker 3** You know, that's a wonderful karma for your own teaching. **Speaker 3** But, you know, we've got a university out in Arizona, Diamond Mountain, **Speaker 3** which I'm incredibly fond of. **Speaker 3** And we are, we've been, our mission is to produce a, I don't know, maybe, we're doing like a, what, seven year course there or something very, very serious course in higher teaching. **Speaker 3** And our mission is starting to produce about 200 very, very qualified, very, very high-level teachers **Speaker 3** that I think could really shape the very foundations of this planet if they were unleashed in the world. **Speaker 3** And that's like my mission, you know, to get everybody to transform a world like that, you know. **Speaker 3** And so we're doing this very powerful experiment in the desert where we're a new experiment in teaching. **Speaker 3** Where we're not, you know, I went to college and I met a professor maybe one term and then I never saw them again. **Speaker 3** You know, like we're actually taking responsibility. **Speaker 3** Like each student, you know, you have to meet them. **Speaker 3** You have to get to know them very well. **Speaker 3** Then you have to have some kind of a relationship with them and see if you connect together. **Speaker 3** Then you take them as your student. **Speaker 3** Then they're yours for life. **Speaker 3** They're yours for lifetimes. **Speaker 3** That's what we're doing at Diamond Mountain. **Speaker 3** It's very exciting for me to go back to the old school teaching of an actual apprenticeship **Speaker 3** where someone is taken for years through a process of study. **Speaker 3** And then when they're ready, unleashed in the world. **Speaker 3** And so we're doing that at Diamond Mountain and we thought one of the great, **Speaker 3** uh, atomic opportunities would be to let you guys have some, I mean, for me I'd be like, **Speaker 3** "Well, come! Come to Diamond Mountain!" But a lot of you are already doing your own, **Speaker 3** almost Diamond Mountain Fair New York, some people are saying that. Some people are in **Speaker 3** various degrees of their spiritual life. **Speaker 3** So what we thought is to let you get in on some kind of karmic opportunity with Dagon **Speaker 3** Mountain. **Speaker 3** You know, because I think it's such a powerful place. **Speaker 3** You know, I think we're going to make art in there. **Speaker 3** And, you know, if you could help with that, that would be a really, really strong karma **Speaker 3** for you. **Speaker 3** That would be really powerful for your own. **Speaker 3** Teaching in your own life. **Speaker 3** You know, teaching is not about, it's funny because it's not really about what you give to other people. **Speaker 3** Teaching is all for you, really. **Speaker 3** You know, it's such heavy, heavy karma. **Speaker 3** Like, you hear yourself saying something. **Speaker 3** Like, you know, live according to the rules of emptiness. **Speaker 3** And, you know, and then all of a sudden you're forced to live by it. **Speaker 3** You're forced to live by the things that you speak about to other people. **Speaker 3** Your own words are echoing in your own mind, **Speaker 3** and you become like this incredible hypocrite if you don't live the teachings. **Speaker 3** So it forces you to live the teachings in a way that you never would have been able. **Speaker 3** You know, you can come and go here as a student. **Speaker 3** You know, you can hear what you want to hear, **Speaker 3** take what you want to take, and then leave the rest of it. **Speaker 3** But if you're speaking it to other people, **Speaker 3** then you have to live it. **Speaker 3** Then you're forced to live it. **Speaker 3** And it's a huge responsibility, and it should be. **Speaker 3** You know, it's like upping the bar for you. **Speaker 3** It's a wonderful thing to teach. **Speaker 3** So, you know, if you don't want to come to Diamond Mountain, **Speaker 3** at least get connected with Diamond Mountain somehow. **Speaker 3** You know, have some kind of harmony connection with Diamond Mountain. **Speaker 3** Have some kind of harmony connection with us, **Speaker 3** where you are feeding us and we are feeding you. **Speaker 3** And it's a nice, mutual, sweet relationship. **Speaker 3** So we have this program. **Speaker 3** Are you going to do that part? **Speaker 3** Oh. **Speaker 3** I'm going to do that part. **Speaker 3** Anyway, yeah, think about it. **Speaker 3** Partly, this would be a really great opportunity if you wanted to be a teacher. **Speaker 3** This next pitch. **Speaker 2** No, the idea is that if you want to be a successful teacher, and the only reason why people come to our teachings, **Speaker 2** the only reason why other people come to our teachings, the only reason why people buy our books, **Speaker 2** is because we are helping other teachers. You see? That's the karma. **Speaker 2** So if you want to be a good teacher, which you must do, and if you want to be successful and change people's lives, which is the whole point of this class, then you must help other teachers. You must be subject to help other teachers. You see? **Speaker 2** So it's better, you know, most universities are all teaching that they're jealous of each other, or trying to outdo each other. **Speaker 2** And not even now, everyone's trying to help the other person be a successful teacher. You see? **Speaker 2** So that's a karma teaching. That's an important teaching to me. You have to remember that. **Speaker 2** I, I, yeah, I want to see my poster up there the next time. I'm going to do it like Jamie Henry's poster. **Speaker 2** And then you have to think, how am I going to do that? You know, who do I talk to? Don't talk to anybody. **Speaker 2** Collect the karma. Collect the karma. First collect the karma. Then the postal will come. Then the people will come. And the thinking will come out of your mouth whether you want it or not. No, you wouldn't even have to think it will come out of your mouth. And everybody will go, oh, you're so smart, you know. **Speaker 2** You have to help other teachers. So we have a pitch. We don't charge at running off. There's no charge for the students. Most of the students are staying in tenants or in very bodily housing because we don't have those. **Speaker 2** but they are very dedicated and they are changing the world. **Speaker 2** They are going around the world. **Speaker 2** They are in, I think, 30 countries now. **Speaker 2** When we leave on Saturday, New York, they will be in 30 different countries. **Speaker 2** These people here will be teaching around the world. **Speaker 2** Help them. **Speaker 2** Help them and stuff. **Speaker 2** And the teaching is, we don't have any income, we don't have any major sponsors. **Speaker 2** We have a thousand people, most of them, are giving a dollar a day, who care about the teachers there. **Speaker 2** And most of them don't come to that alone. But from Vancouver or from Shanghai or from Brisbane, they are spending a dollar a day. **Speaker 2** And that's how we run the class. And we don't touch, nobody gets paid. We don't get paid, none of the teachers gets paid. **Speaker 2** People are like giving up their life. **Speaker 2** There's, there's people like, **Speaker 2** Malibu had tenure at the University of California, **Speaker 2** which means you don't have to give anything for the rest of your life. **Speaker 1** You just collect a check. **Speaker 2** You know, then you can teach as loud as you want, **Speaker 1** it doesn't matter if you want to. **Speaker 1** No, he gave it up. **Speaker 2** He gave up a permanent salary to come to teach at that moment. **Speaker 2** But it's all the people out there like that. **Speaker 2** They all are doing it for free. **Speaker 2** And so how - please don't ask. **Speaker 2** Please consider. **Speaker 2** They have a sign-up pickle. **Speaker 2** You sign up the thing, it's a dollar day, **Speaker 2** they take a dollar day off your credit card. **Speaker 2** Every year they ask you, "Do you still want to do it?" **Speaker 2** And then you can say, "My God, I forgot, no!" **Speaker 1** And to tell the truth, you don't notice it. **Speaker 2** You don't notice it at all. **Speaker 2** And there's all these hundreds and hundreds of people are doing it. **Speaker 2** And that's how we keep the place free. **Speaker 2** And that's how we keep the place free. **Speaker 2** So I have a challenge for you. **Speaker 2** You sign up for Dollar Day if you're not already in it. **Speaker 2** And you get one other person to do it that way. **Speaker 2** You get one other person to do it that way. **Speaker 2** I find that parents are the easiest. **Speaker 2** And they did a video. **Speaker 1** We did a video newsletter. **Speaker 2** Instead of sending out a piece of newsletter, **Speaker 2** it's actually decided it was cheaper and more fun **Speaker 2** I just want to send out a video on this webinar, which is just finished this week. **Speaker 2** And we're going to be playing it during the pandemic, okay? **Speaker 2** So you can have one if you need it to talk your plan this year. **Speaker 2** So I can go out and be a paper fan. **Speaker 2** Help us. Help us make this reasoning happen around the world. **Speaker 2** And just do it, okay? It's really important to the world. **Speaker 2** I have some pictures too long, but you can't get out the door without working on this. **Speaker 2** Ah, because you've got a rest of the day. **Speaker 2** But anyway, have a nice break. **Speaker 2** I want to speak to... **Speaker 2** We'll take a short break. **Speaker 2** I think you're genius.
